Barbara will show a video and talk about the role of young women volunteers during the Vietnam war who were known as “Donut Dollies.” She graduated from college in later 1967 with a BA in Journalism and then left for a year as a recreation worker (Donut Dollie) in Vietnam with the American Red Cross. She served in Viet Nam from March 1968 to March 1969 and was stationed at Phan Rang with the 101st Airborne Division, Lai Khe with the 1st Infantry Division, II Field Forces and Cam Ranh Army.

Thank you for your service. I served in Quang Tri Province, the northern most province of S. Vietnam. I was 19 years old and my tour went from 3/70-3/71, serving in the artillery. I remember the “Donut Dollies!” I made it home to Sturgis, MI. I graduated from college and graduate school and am retired. Take care.

You didn't belong in Vietnam and neither did the Donut Dollies. Big truth that gets missed.

@@topgeardel Where did you get your graduate degree in international relations, Comrade?

First of all, who the hell are you? And no, all I needed was a high school level education to figure out Vietnam. Obviously, doing graduate level work did nothing for your critical thinking. By now, you should know there is a difference between "smarts" and "wisdom". Btw... I could have been in Vietnam when you were. if somehow I was a "Donut Dollie"....I would have shoved it up your .... :-))

You were brave and selfless. Although I believe the war was horribly wrong, you were an important part of that history and brought comfort amongst the suffering. Thank you for sharing your story. 💙

Why were US military throwing civilians out of helicopters ?
@larry_9982
@larry_9982 Жыл бұрын
The US Military was not throwing civilians out of helicopters. Maybe, maybe, a few frustrated, over burdened, scared, just saw that "civilian" kill or slaughter their fellow US soldiers, and maybe even bad guys did that. It is war, it does something to a man, something I am sure you would never understand. BTW, those "civilians" were more than likely Viet Cong, not someone like you eating at McDonald's daily back home. Maybe you spent the war hiding in Canada, you POS? If you were there when I was I wouldn't throw you out of my helicopter. I might dangle you from it for a bit though.
