When I was managing a wine and liquor store in NYC, back in the Before Times, we were one of the first joints in the city to carry Mr. Black, and we must have sent a case of that stuff out the door every week. I'm gonna call it one of the best and certainly one of the most accessible products to come out of this latest generation of craft spirits and liquors. Freakin' love this stuff, 'swhat I'm sayin.

I actually do something similar as a stirred cocktail. .5 oz maple syrup .75 oz cold brew coffee 1.5 oz cinnamon bourbon (not Fireball, but a cinnamon or cinnamon and clove infused bourbon) 2-3 dashes of Angostura aromatic bitters Stir with ice and strain into a Nick and Nora glass It’s delicious and has a mysterious chocolate note that comes from the fusion of all the other flavors.

In Montreal they do a bunch of old fashioneds with maple and they’re amazing. Santos bar in old port does it with maple bark smoke in the glass and a torched orange zest, and maple simple syrup of course. Can’t wait to make a couple of these coffee ones!

Maple old fashioneds are indeed amazing! I first had one in the Grand Tetons park in Wyoming, recreated it many times when I got back home! Never had maple smoked, but I have had a maple bacon old fashioned with cedar smoking.

LOVE Appleton's. Did the tour in Jamaica when on a 10 yr anniversary vacay...One of the 4 ppl who know their punch recipe was our docent. They left 8 of us in the tasting room at the end with 5 different bottles and said to hit them up for more if we needed it! I may have passed out on the ride back to the resort. The resort we stayed at gave away Appleton bottles as prizes for all their dopey contests....we can home with 4 bottles a piece in our luggage!!!!! Good times!

The first one is basically a Revolver cocktail except that the you’ll need to add some simple syrup in lieu of using Kahlua. One of my favorite cocktails. 🥃 ☕️

So far my favorite coffee cocktail, and one that's entered my standard repertoire, is, basically, a coffee boulevardier that i call the Red Dead Revolver: 2oz bulleit rye, 2oz kahlua, 1oz campari, and a ton of aztec chocolate bitters (~3-4 dashes), garnished with an orange peel. I'd like to see what it's like with Mr. Black or NOLA sometime but I haven't really been able to go out and grab a bottle.

Cold brewed coffee and rye go so well together!! My personal favorite (and best creation yet) is 30ml cold brewed coffee, 30ml rye, 20ml triple sec, 20ml sweet vermouth and 2 dashes of absinthe, shaken. If anyone tries it, let me know what you think! Edit: I forgot to mention a twist of orange peel to garnish

Just spitballing ideas for the Chiapparoni, but I like the name "Coffee Tiger". It conjures the image of the jungle with both the coffee and tiger, and you said that it had more of an attack than the Blue Mountain King, so the tiger references this attack, and also the color scheme (almost black drink with orange peel) fits the colors.

The cold brew old fashioned is fantastic. Really enjoyed it. Haven't tried the others, but fully intend to. Edit: Required some delivery, but now I've tried all three. Have to say I, they are all quite good. The coffee old fashioned and chiapparoni especially. I'll certainly be making those again. The blue mountain king is good, but not quite up with the other two. Has the best name though.

So, this is being a quite out-there of me, but since you were mentioning how you were just trying things out and they came out better than expected, I have my own original coffee based cocktail that is frankly a delight, if you would like to try it: Dark Fantasy- 1 ounce cold brew (can also use hot coffee, but needs to be fresh, real coffee, not instant) 1 ounce Kahlua 1 ounce vodka half a stick of cinnamon, broken into small pieces (no need to be precise, just break it into 4-5 pieces) 2 dashes Bitter Truth's aromatic bitters. Shake everything over ice and strain into a coupe. IMPORTANT: garnish with grated nutmeg, it really does make all the difference.

Hi! I’m a participant in the ultra-niche competition “coffee in good spirits.” It’s a coffee cocktail competition put on through the s.c.a. I got to compete in it and one of my favorite drinks I had was a riff on a penicillin. It uses all the normal base ingredients, but adds two ounces of iced coffee, an ounce of orange liqueur, and two ounces of sparkling water. Give it a shot some time.

Just stumbled upon this, I have to say these sounds great and I love the slight slow-mo for the pours and the fact that he spills all over the place. It adds a more organic feel to the pouring rather than a "clean" pour which can seem doctored and less relatable for the average person. Great Job! Will definitely have to try some of these!

As an Australian, I have been drinking and mixing Mr. Black for years. My favorite mod for the coffee old-fashioned is as follows: 30ml Mr. Black 60ml Single malt whiskey (Balvenie 12-year-old double wood) 10ml maple syrup (NOT MAPLE FLAVORED SYRUP) 4 dash of bitters Large twist if orange Stir and pour. Presentation (optional) Light a cinnamon stick so it's smoldering on one end, dropped in to symbolize a cigar. I give you "The Churchill breakfast".

Chiapas is my favourite coffee too! I worked at a coffee shop where we served single origin, fair trade, coop grown coffee and the Chiapas medium roast was my favourite, hands down.

So this might be off-topic for this video. But dude, Greg. Because of all your talking up about Smith & Cross in your Rum videos, I finally got a bottle. ONE liquor store in my area started carrying it a week ago, and where I live you can't have booze delivered. Lemme tell ya. Not disappointed AT ALL. Thank you for exposing me to this wonderful rum! That caramelized banana aftertaste I get from it is just *chef kiss*

I know I'm late to the party but BOTH of your drinks are fantastic! Chiapparoni tastes like an Italian mocha and next time I build it I'm going to try with a lemon twist for the classic prep. BMK is my favorite, the blanc and coffee go SO WELL together. Well done sir.

Coffee and orange comes up a lot this episode, and I love coffee and oranges, have since I read Wallace Steven's poem Sunday Morning which begins "complacencies of the peignoir, and late coffee and oranges in a sunny chair"
