Hi Dennis, alway look forward to your videos, I was able to track down and buy back my original Cj7 1985 dark honey color spring special Jeep in pretty good shape . It took me 20 yrs but I got it back. I have been restoring it for the last 4 years and now have to take a year off because of 4 big back surgeries in one. But hopefully good as new after a year. Heck I’d be fine with half better. That being said thank you for the great content , history and knowledge you share with us. I wish you continued success in the future, best regards from Jason in Snohomish Washington.

The reason the decals are not straight, or slightly out of position, is time. In the time it took you to install that VIN decal, the original installer would have had it installed and been on to the next part of his job. Being inside the car he would have probably had to return to his work station, retrieve some trim part and an air gun, and them install it. Depending on line speed there may have been more to do than that. Source: 30+ year Jeep employee

DENNIS HOW COME YOU HAVEN’T DONE ANY BIG LIFTED 2011 to 2014 (reliable years) CHEVY SUBURBANS????? CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THESE BUILT V8 4x4s HERE IN CALIFORNIA AND NORTHERN NEVADA????? YOU’RE MISSING THE BOAT, LEAVING CASH ON THE TABLE!! BUILD ONE AND YOU’LL SEE WHAT I MEAN. :). KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BROSEPH!!!!
@1982MCI
@1982MCI 3 жыл бұрын
Why should he jump into something like a suburban tho when he’s got all the business he could ever stand working on the Jeeps with both restorations and upgrades, as well as doing what literally brings a sparkle to the mans eyes and that’s rescuing the old classics, both foreign and domestic, and either getting them running again or getting them into the right hands of someone who will get them running and either restore them or preserve them so our history doesn’t die and rot away in front of us!! It’s a much better business model to work on as many of the same make vehicle as possible. That way you can, like I’m sure Dennis does, stock your shelves with parts that will fit a large number of vehicles that come thru your doors which reduces down time lost because your waiting on parts to come in, especially with what’s going on in the world today making shipping times longer than normal on some parts if your waiting for them to be shipped in from other countries. I’m sure if the numbers were good tho, Dennis would undertake any vehicle but it seems his bread and butter has been the Jeep market for quite a long time and I’m sure he really doesn’t see the need to abandon ship in the middle of travel to try and work on a couple suburban’s. His team is also accustomed to mostly Jeep stuff and you’ve gotta figure that into the equation also. The more keeps they work on the more proficient they become which increases their daily productivity and lowers the cost per job which increases the profit margin per Jeep so there’s really many good reasons why it’s a good idea to have his main focus on the one line but like I said before, if the numbers are good enough on something else to do one or two here and there then I would imagine he’d consider it but from what I know about Jeeps and the Jeep market, he’s not going to abandon them anywhere in the near future cause the market is so hot and strong and is why I have 5 of them myself. Take care buddy and stay safe out there!!

Don Pfeiffer I hear ya and get it. But, here in California and Nevada Overlanding is getting bigger by the second and people have a lot of kids still. Everyone is running 35s and up size tires and really want the V8 power to push them. Chevy replacement parts and aftermarket upgrades are massive and the most affordable still. People want off-road capable full size traditional V8 SUVs for family fun time. The 2021 Z71 SUBURBANS are $80k with tax and fees now, so people are keeping and modding their SUBURBANS and EXCURSIONS. Done right lifted models are very sought after and collectible now. Jeep are great but very cramped when you have a family.

Love the vids Dennis, keep them coming...would love for you to give us an idea how many hours it takes to complete the work your team does to a specific vehicle...For instance, many times we see the vehicle before a restoration, and then we see it completed...I can't be the only one trying to figure out how much time it takes to bring these CJ's and other classics back to life. Thanks!

Always worried about buying a CJ with new Renegade or Laredo decals. How do you know for sure, it's the real thing? From my understanding the VIN plate doesn't show the trim package. It could just be a base model with lot of factory options added.

@@scottphillips9717 Not that I am aware of........records for special orders were not kept for future use as far as I know. You should be able to find a spot on the body under a hinge or fitting where the original color resides unless there has been a frame off restoration. This could be matched by a decent paint supplier but as far as a color name you my be out of luck.

@@scottphillips9717 Your jeep was likely part of a fleet order for a government agency, utility company or a regional private company. If you can track down the original owner, you might have a chance of identifying the color name from that angle. They probably painted all of their vehicles the same color. The extra tag you have is probably related to the SRO (special request order). I have seen these with one or two punches or many punches. These punches may have been for specific inspections on the line or to verify special order inclusions like a build sheet.

That emissions decal, is supposed to be under the hood, by federal law. If you open the hood, and don't see any missions decal. Chances are... Is that thing was blasted really hard, in the front end. And statistically... Most people aren't even hitting their brakes anymore. Airbags are not deploying. And I'm pulling more teeth out of steering wheels, than ever before. Put your cell phones down. Remember how to drive. Thank you.
