Gabriel has the advantage of the adults thinking that a sacrificed piece is mistakenly lost, when it's just a lure to entice the other player into committing to a bad setup.

@novawins93015 жыл бұрын
There is something about grown men losing to kids that really hurts their ego. When I was 11-12 after years of playing my Pawpaw the elderly neighbor wanted to play me at chess because my Pawpaw told him i was getting better (the neighbor could never beat Pawpaw). So the neighbor invited me over to play and we went over and sat down. He never got close to beating me, every time I would check him or get close to a checkmate he would knock over the board, start cussing and say let’s start over. I’d say no it’s ok I remember exactly where all the pieces were (and I did) he would refuse. Over and over something would happen or he wouldn’t feel good all of a sudden and we would leave. Anyways, I hope Dave has been practicing since. Trying to talk tough to a kid is a form of intimidation because he isn’t as skilled as his mouth leads him to be. Well played young man, keep playing.

Carlini is a great example of how gamers are gamers, regardless of chess, soccer, or CS: GO. A little healthy banter/trash talk goes a long way towards keeping that warm, fun feeling throughout the game. I wish people did this in chess more often. It's how ACTUAL friends play, as opposed to these furrowed brows bs matches everyone takes super seriously despite there being no stakes. Love to see it
