Dave has good instincts for sacs, but he prolly hasn't done any mate in 1 puzzles under time pressure...EVER.

7:50 was so obvious. But we with time pressure you miss those pretty easily. Also Carlinis master banter is effective againt find mates apparently

That was Dave's best game and worst game of all time in one game. Dave did a wonderful job bringing white's king out, but missed so many mate opportunities. Even Carl missed a couple mate opportunities with his end game analysis. Carlini's trash talking does have an affect. Perhaps ear plugs next time. Lol. Great analysis. Thank you for sharing.

This is why I fell in love with chess !! So much fun and learning in just a few minutes. Kudos to Carlini and Dave for reminding us that chess always finds ways to humble us. Definitely one of my favorite matches on CC !!

The mate misses were disheartening, but the missed bishop/queen with bd3 skewer really got to me at 5:26.

That Be3 skewer was also a checkmate. 7:22 was not the first mate. At 7:02 there was a checkmate if he took the queen with the rook instead of the queen.

it seems like dave will set himself up well for the mid to endgame, then doesn't finish. in this one, carlini was too busy celebrating to see that dave sort of offered a handshake.

Is it just me or did poor Dave miss like 4 or 5 mate chances in there? I know it's always easier when you aren't playing. Dave had like, complete control there for awhile..I mean he had the crushing initiative from the sack of the rook. Impressive.

In the last position after Qa4+ King can go to a6, so the mate in 3 is another combination: Qa4+ Ka6, Bb4+ Kb6, Qa5=

Queen g4+ was not a great move the move was perhaps 1.bishop on b2 captures on a1×; rook on e1 captures a1×; queen on e3 captures knight on e2 ... this would have been the best continuation as it allowed to equalise the material between both players

5:26 the problem carl is that you're queen is dead if he would move his bishop to skewer your king and queen hehe good luck saving your queen and avoiding mate and in the analysis part when the analysis "guy" said it was equal the knight and rook could be forked and clearly its not equal.

@7:02 instead with white queen if he takes black queen with his white rook which comes with check and this leaves the black king to go to the 3rd rank and now white releases bishop to any square more than the 4th rank giving a discovered mate. And all this ends here. How come these simple lines are not read to mate.
