In the heat of Summer, at a smart/casual event, an open crisp white or blue 100% cotton shirt is fine. In smart dress suit wearing occasions, a white shirt with a tie is not just smarter but essential and the tie must have the knot perfectly symmetrical in shape and not showing the white of the shirt in the middle between the collars where it meets the neck. Anyone who doesn’t like ties with a suit is improperly dressed or has no taste. Trainers/sneakers are for little boys or men who have never grown up. Oxford shoes or brogues with a mirror shine is more mature. One essential requirement in suit wearing is that it MUST fit as near to perfection as possible, or it looks like it was stolen from a charity shop/thrift shop or borrowed from dad.

As a similarly aged man, I wear the cargo shorts all the time... they have room for the package. Other pants are either too restrictive or they are too flimsy to hold a phone and wallet. New Balance summer and hiking boots winter. My gal thinks I look fine as long as I have a navy blue t shirt or a button shirt with the sleeves rolled up to my elbow and li es when wear a watch. I just dress the way I like.

Good advice. I have recently gotten into the habit of tying my shoes. I always keep my sneakers washed and clean. Have been experimenting with different neck line and color tee shirts. Actually have gotten some random compliments. Since I work out try to find shirts that show off all the work. . I have numerous nice button down shirts. Try to keep them ironed for quick use. Perhaps should get some different nice jeans. Thank you

being a mature man, My dress styles varies based on where I'm going and what I'm doing. I always exude a level of confidence in whatever I wear, some guys can pull off a lot of taboos in clothing if they have a walk of confidence, I wear a confident smile and a little splash of flirtation. This has always been who I am, while most of your list seems okay, I would like to add for a mature male a few tips, on the cologne stick with a well known brand for your age and use it sparingly I would suggest only applying one pump targeting your shirt (not your body.) as the cologne will not be mixed with your body chemistry which can come off sour sometimes. Also on the sneakers stick with a basic black sneaker as this is easy to fit into any clothing option you might have. Another tip is to get one or two nice blazers these are great for adding to an outfit over a T-shirt or a button down linen shirt (this works well in a semiformal or casual environment) with winter it is a good idea to wear a good navy blue or black long jacket with a clean look, guys learn how and when to wear a power tie it will help to give a look of authority to your clothing style.

I'm 55 years old. My uniform is a fitted t-shirt, nice jeans (not too washed out) always clean sneakers(Vans). Here's where I think most guys lose it. ALWAYS have a smile on your face. Also I'm in the gym 4 days a week. While I work my whole body out, I do pay special attention to wide shoulders, upper chest and arms. Thanks for the video. This is a good follow-up to the other series. I was a little surprised that sweaters didn't make the list. I've often thought that if I needed to impress a woman without going full suit, I should wear a button-down shirt, no tie, and a moderately thin sweater over the shirt. I had always thought that this look was considered attractive. I think that Rick Santorum favored this look during his 2015-2016 run for the Republican presidential nomination. Maybe his complete failure killed the attraction of this look. When I was younger, I desperately wanted a denim jacket, but I never got around to buying one. I probably don't have the look to make a denim jacket work. My sister used to say that I needed a "duster." I never knew whether she was serious or whether she was joking. Just before my health failed to the point of not being able to work, I considered getting a traditional, long overcoat. I found myself walking across the parking lot at work in ten degree weather with a twenty mile per hour wind. The wind would cut through the thighs of my pants and freeze my legs. I looked for over-pants at one time so that I could just throw them on over my regular pants to give myself an extra layer, but I never found any that seemed to be a good choice. I also considered getting some chaps, but that would look ridiculous. Maybe I could have made an overcoat work. I don't think I have anything else relevant beyond what I wrote in my comments on the other two videos. I noticed that the example watches didn't include that old 80's style Casio digital. If I ever find myself in a position to care, maybe I'll look for a traditional, analogue watch.

Definitely something to be said for a classic watch if you don’t have your phone in your hand at all times and have places to be. Although some people do have the phone, the watch and the Apple device that is both. Crazy world. Years ago, I worked outdoors in Chicago winters and found a pair of ski pants that look like black trousers and a down coat that covered my tush. Ugg boots are hideous and fleece lined. I was warm and toasty with 0° temperatures.

People in warm weather climates do indeed wear suits to events that require them. They wear lighter, more natural fabrics. They wear them in lighter colors. they wear them with less lining; unlined or partially lined. And they often ditch their jacket as soon as possible.

I think it requires a certain type of woman who's into that, and chances are - she has ink, body or facial piercings herself. If you can find that - you're golden. For the majority of women - probably not so much... Me personally [ink free] - tattoos don't bother or repel me - as long as it's a reasonable amount and tastefully done. A shopping list of names of previous lovers and wives; your political leanings and opinions; a wacky map of your personal growth and development and life experiences drawn on your body or of your sordid past - not so much. If you have a lot of ink - like full sleeves or entire body work done - there has to be an exceptional man under that skin to make me not see the ink over the essence of the man - if that makes sense. If that's narrow minded - oh well. It is my personal opinion and how I perceive that. Your mileage will surely vary.

Gentleman should learn to speak with either a genuine British or Transatlantic accent. Jeans are out and pressed Navy blue Chinos are in. I usually wear a military watch or a Casio G-Shock - out of habit. I was in the military. But, now, I'm amazed at how women stereo type me based upon my watch or my shoes. "Are you a cop?" is a question that I get a lot. Or "Are you Special Forces?" - Sometimes I lie and say yes, if I'm only looking for a short-term arrangement. But women should not be so easily fooled by stereotypes.

The spandex style press your male goods into your abdomen and moving areas of the upper thigh to hip and no layer to prevent chafing and sweat. It is like being wrapped in saran wrap. My gal likes me in briefs so it is a win win. I buy new regularly and don't wash with dark colors, so they stay bright white.

This is good honest advice. No disagreement from me. But, I think, no matter what, a man should be wearing what he's normally wearing. In other words, no cheating, be yourself. Even if it's bad. If a guy shows up on a date, he is really dressed up, but this is not his style, it will come out later. There is nothing worse than a good first impression and a big disappointment later on.

Ladies have never loved me except on rare occasions. I've always had to force the interaction until it gets to the point of having sex. After that things can work. I've been told I have no vibe and I know I have no sense of style. I wear a watch so I know what time it is. I wear clothes because it's required by law, and it's cold outside. I'm most comfortable in wearing work clothes with pockets and not worrying about them. Dressing up is stressing up! I always worry about getting clothes dirty, long sleeves suck, and they feel unnatural. I've gone a lifetime like this and the only reason to consider "dating" is to get a woman that wants to sleep with me and create a relationship. She can dress me her way if she wants to. This gets so much more difficult in the senior years of life. It's not that I've not tried to fit in. It's just that I don't. I can build or fix anything, but I can't make sense of all this style nonsense.

As far as not being able to make sense of this style stuff. I would only share with you that good grooming matters most, and then wear things that are clean, fresh smelling, and don’t look worn out. And the most important thing they make you feel confident. Whatever that looks like.

I try to groom well and certainly clean up as best I can, but I don't notice many details that others do. I notice the woman much more than her clothes. The idea of wearing long sleeves and rolling them up seems absurd, since they're not only uncomfortable, but look sloppy IMHO. I do wear a hat often and am not balding at all, but it tends to hide gray hair.

This is very much for the younger man. A distinguished gentleman in his 50s wearing sneakers on a date? Not on your nelly!! A quality pair of leather shoes / boots. Dark, selvedge denim jeans or smartly cut chinos, with a crisp, open collared dress shirt in a solid colour and a sports jacket, maybe even with a contrasting waistcoat. @ I’m not saying the older gent shouldn’t wear sneakers you understand. Indeed, I have 2x pairs of leather dress sneakers. Would I wear them on a date, or on a semi-formal event? Absolutely not. In fact I think it could be quite detrimental to do so, for the simple reason that by the time we hit our 50s, it would almost be expected by others that we are older, wiser, more experienced in life that perhaps we should be able to recognise what attire should be worn to different events / meetings. No matter how well you dress a sneaker, it is will always be a sneaker as such it is perhaps one of thee most informal shoes and should be worn as such, or as what they were originally designed for - playing sports.😉

Totally agree on the boxer briefs! Woman do not want to see tired looking underwear! No greyish baggy underwear. And a big yes, for sleeves rolled up. Perhaps for different reasons than you but I find men's arms sexy! I believe many women do. So an opportunity to reveal as asset without being in anyway immodest. Most importantly, be yourself. Another great podcast! I would add 3 things applicable to both sexes - though women tend to be far more clothes aware than men. 1.Dress your "look". If you go outside that style, your clothes won't work for you. Get to know the look that works for you and tailor your outfit accordingly. Women do this all the time - they buy outfits, not clothes. 2. Secondly - and related to this - dress your age. Mutton dressed up as lamb will only make you look ridiculous. 3. Lastly dress your colour. Some colours will work for your skin type etc and believe me some won't.
