I was thinking how useful this product is .. and though to myself what if you made a ring out of it you could even conceal it on a toe a magnesium ring with a ferrous rod chuck insert.. because bulk gets to be a chore and we dont always have pocket space or room on the key chain. And keys get lost . Its functional fashionable serves the purpose and not alot of extra weight and space

What if your knife doesn't have a sharp 90 degree spine? Most outdoor knives these days do not.

Magnesium Fire Starter comes with a striker now, maybe not 4 yrs ago when you posted this. When I first bought these they did not come with a striker.

I notice you have an Opinel Lock-Knife. Number 5 I'm guessing. That is a top quality all around camping knife without going full Rambo. The last one I had, I showed my fried, I told him " be careful, it's sharp ". His response was " No it isn't it's OOOOOOOOOOOW " He sliced his thumb open. Dumb ass.

i bought one, Coghlans # 7870 and the first time i went to use it the flint fell off the magnesium bar , the retailer wouldn't warranty it either

Unfortunately, their magnesium is not 99.9 % pure. If you take notice of the black soot that comes off the magnesium pieces when first lit. This is from impurities. It will still work OK, but pure magnesium, or 99.9% magnesium burns with a little white smoke, nothing more.
