NEW Coin Ring Finishing Tool... the "Re-REEDer!
They can be found at my Shop page at: CoinRingUSA.com or by the direct link below:
www.etsy.com/l...
===========================================
With this newest tool that I developed, you can now make your finished coin rings stand out by having reeded edges on BOTH sides instead of just one; a look hardly seen on any coin rings, until now! ;-)
HOW TO APPLY THE NEW REEDS ONTO YOUR COIN RING:
1. Place your coin rings’ un-reeded (punched) edge onto the “Re-REEDER” die after annealing (and quenching) the coin's edge.
2. Using the hole in the middle of the “Re-REEDer” die as a point of reference, center your coin ring onto the grooves.
3. Next, place the piece of high-impact urethane pad (provided with this tool) over the Mint-reeded side and then put a compression press plate or coin ring Repair Die on top of the urethane pad. This will serve to protect the existing reeds from damage.
4. Line everything up under your hydraulic presses' ram head, and bring the press ram head down onto the top of the press plate/Repair Die until you begin to feel some resistance. Finally, complete 1-2 full downward strokes with your hydraulic press to imprint the reeded pattern onto the coin ring’s edge.
The result will be a completely uniform pressed-on set of reeds. This tool that I developed is the best and most efficient way of accomplishing this task in the shortest amount of time with the greatest amount of consistency.
Each “Re-REEDer” die is made from a solid piece of the highest quality tool steel that’s been meticulously machined and then carefully hardened for maximum efficiency.
The “Re-REEDer” can also be used to re-apply reeds to any coin that have been damaged. Simply file or sand the old reeds off and re-apply using the same techniques as mentioned above. (Removing the old reeds is best accomplished using a set of Rounding, Finishing and Polishing mandrels).

I’ve seen a bunch of these rings and I kept thinking why not add those lines to the other side. They look “unfinished” when the ends do not match. Glad I found this!! If I try this as a hobby I’ll definitely do this step, I think it looks great.

I just ordered a universal set a few days ago and I'm looking forward to starting this venture in coin ring creations. I'll have to save a bit for the re-reeder and the 6 ton press, but its a definite buy.

Hey Tony, you can pick up the 6-ton "A" frame benchtop press from Harbor Freight. Make sure to use their 20% off coupon, and it should run you around $70.00 I believe? While you do have to assemble it yourself; it's well worth it in my opinion to have 6-tons of capacity at your fingertips.

Well I just received my Re-Reeder and checked it out on my already finished coins and some unfinished ones as well. This is a great tool..it makes your coins look so much more professional than the blank un-reeded side. I started slowly with my hydrolic press, and it didnt take long to get my pressures right, the lightly pressed ones at first made small impressions , i simply re-pressed and no problems. Thanks Martin.

Ted, you're welcome and thank you for your feedback! It really is a great tool that fills a need that had not been addressed prior: what to do with that plain-looking un-reeded side of your coin ring? Glad you're enjoying the new tool!

Looks like a cool tool. I like the idea. However, you're not "re" reeding the cut edge, which never had reeds to begin with. Just saying.
@CoinRingUSA
@CoinRingUSA 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, I know; the term is more of a play on words with: "Re-Reader" and "Re-Reeder"; and technically, if you choose to re-apply the reeds onto the thicker side, you are "Re-REEDing" the edge. It's also technically not a "cut edge" as you call it; but the correct terminology is "punched edge" as you don't cut the hole through the center, you punch it.... just saying! ;-)
