How many Americans will get unemployed if Bernie Sanders gets elected and implement his ideas ? Both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders cares about the american people, they just happened to have different visions, both unrealistic, given that Donald Trumps tax reform has a lot of tax cuts, unless there´s spending cuts, increased US national debt. Then we Have Bernie which will increase taxpayers tax rate, resulting in less consumption, corporations leaving the USA due to unreasonable high taxes, billionaires who will have their capital leave the US and you name it. Neither candidate is ideal in my opinion/ Btw Bernie Sanders is far more left than the socialist government in my country , sweden and that´s not an understatement.

Here in Norway we have free healthcare and free education, and yes... we pay a lot of taxes. As a 24 year old I pay 36% in taxes each month, and the taxes are regulated by how much you make and how much you are in debt. If you make little and have a lot of debt then you pay less taxes... if you are rich then you pay more. Why do we accept this? Because we want EVERYBODY to have the right to get an education and not worry about being sick. Bernie Sanders thinks like we think in Scandinavia. Maybe if the US did not spend $610.096 billion on war, weapons and military then they could afford free healthcare and education.

+YDKSAB Who is the president supposed to represent? Who are politicians supposed to represent? Easy answer, of course: their voters & the people at large. There is not >supposed< to be a middle man, especially if that middle man comes in the form of a big corporation with little care for human welfare. Secondly, "I will give you things" is a false representation of Bernie's message. Bernie is offering opportunities and a fair system that doesn't favour those already rich or penalise the poor. That is the difference.

Private pharmaceutical companies would rather maximise profits than giving a shit about the people's welfare, as seen from the extremely high prices in ur country and the enormous profits they are earning annually. One of the few justifications of the companies earning such high profits is that they will lower their cost of production by investing in R&D which eventually transfer the cost savings to the consumers. However, did they do it? Now tell me how Bernie and his supporters do not understand economics?

+TheImpiroGirl We have arguably the best health centers in the world from MD Anderson, Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic to name a few. Our Top hospitals charge a lot but they are at the forefront of medical advancement. Many if not most medical breakthroughs are discovered in the United States, and we are able to keep funding these projects by charging people a lot. Its called capitalism; capitalism drives our economy and gives Hospitals incentives to keep working hard and pushing forward. There is an old saying " You get what you pay for", its expensive in the US but we hands down have the best hospitals in the world. There is a reason why people who can afford it fly to the United States for medical treatment. I don't want free anything, especially a doctor who's getting paid next to nothing.

Nazi is an abbreviation of "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" - the National Socialist German Worker's Party. It says it right in the title, it's NATIONAL SOCIALISM, NOT DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM! They are at the far right of the political spectrum. Democratic socialists like Sanders are on the left.

I'm a Canadian citizen living in Toronto, Ontario and I've enjoyed our Universal Health Care system (OHIP - Ontario Health Insurance Plan) for my entire life. I don't know what it feels like to live in fear of getting sick - and not being able to afford health care. Years back , I found myself employed with a company in Toronto, that sold Canadian style health insurance to American customers. Well, all I can say is - the amount of hard luck stories I heard from all those American callers - who had been destroyed by unaffordable health care situations - was simply too much to bear for me. I , literally quit that job after 6 months because I just couldn't live with all the health- care horror stories I was hearing day after day. It was - SO depressing. All those American families whose lives were devastated by hospital bills in the thousands of dollars - just reinforced my gratitude for our government sponsored health care system. I sincerely hope ,all our American friends can find a way to finally end their FOR- PROFIT health care system that excludes so many of their fellow citizens and seriously punishes so many others. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU !!!
@cosmotagliafierro80559 жыл бұрын
+badvagirl Well , to be fair - most of those people and entities you mentioned with the exception of drug companies and medical equipment manufacturers work for wages - not profits. But more to your question as to what you can do about this situation. Presently ( as of 2008) there are approximately 50 countries that have universal or near-universal health care systems - some of these are Canada, UK, France, Germany, Brazil, Rwanda, Thailand, South Korea, Moldova, Kuwait, Chile and China. Now , - I certainly don't believe - and I'm certain you don't believe all these countries are somehow smarter or better run than the United States of America? No way ! I tend to believe that the pharmaceutical industry and the health insurance industry together with all their Washington lobbyists - are "buying" both Democrat and Republican congressmen and senators to help them secure the status quo. (keep the huge profits coming at all costs) It's these industries and the political establishment you should be angry with - not the "greedy doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers ... etc. " that are being used as scapegoats. It's the shameful greed and obscene profits of these industries (and the billionaires who control them) that are preventing you from having universal health care - as a right - and not a privilege. Maybe you should join Bernie Sanders and the political revolution - and demand Universal Health Care , a $15 minimum wage, pay equity for women, paid medical sick leave, free tuition for public colleges and universities - and return the government to its rightful owners - the American people.

+YDKSAB Well, people should vote for their interests. The sad part is, many of you are ok with politicians saying that to a couple of large multinationals and high net worth individuals. No one is naive about what's possible. What people want is for negotiations in a representative Democracy to start a little left of the liberal position. We will end up at the absolute middle in that scenario. What has been happening for decades, the GOP cowers the Dems into believing the liberal position is untenable, so, they start from the center right. Most of these Neocon/Corporate Dems are actually right wing on economics and foreign policy. They're only liberal on social issues, not because they believe in them, they do it for the votes. look at where that got us. At least the GOP is honest about their worldview. They have no use for average citizens. Dems are the same but have lied to us for decades. Working class whites see through their bull and vote against their interest as long as they are sold gun rights, which the GOP truly believes and the promise of ending abortion. I understand why they hate modern Dems. Many Dems stand for nothing, only power and influence. They think Americans are easily manipulated. Bernie isn't perfect but we definitely need the relief. Clinton is just another oligarch tool who feels entitled.

As a Canadian, I sincerely hope the US can turn things around and make the right decision with their vote. We recently removed a massive dark cloud over our country by getting rid of Stephen Harper. Health care is huge, and the crazy tuiton fees for colleges could also be reduced a lot by revising the way tax money is spent! Yes, employers will have to pay more but providing better health and btter education will result in higher work efficiency! Also, who do you think will pay for Trump's wall? Mexicans? +TRAILERSPOT no, it disgusts me how stupid and gullible Americans are, Hillary literally says one thing and then completely changes her mind and acts like it was like that all along. And trump for fuck sakes don't even get me started.... You can't get someone in the wealthy 1% to help the 99%, trump doesn't know shit because he has been spoon feed his whole life and he thinks Americas problems are caused by different races and religions.

+Grant Heyns everything Sanders believes in is pure and self less, he just wants to make America great again... But he will actually do it unlike everyones favourite million air.....
@ryan4butler18 жыл бұрын
Grant Heyns I don't think you understand Trump at all from what I'm reading, and assuming a candidate doesn't "know shit" because he grew up in certain socio economic upbringing is exactly the mentality of the left. There's a sense of victimhood that I'm feeling where "we the 99%" deserve to be given the world because "we didn't grow up privileged". Its the world we live in, we're predisposed to hundreds of set backs from our birth whatever our ethnicity or background is. If America is anything right now its a land of infinite opportunity and freedom for whoever has anything to offer. Who are you to tear the success and accomplishments of the people who earned it? But thats besides the point. Is every Trump supported so gullible and stupid for believing in something different that what you think? Your entire mentality is to label others stupid and without "proper judgment" to inflate your sense of moral and intellectual superiority. "If only they weren't so stupid they would know the truth." If Trump stands for anything its giving working class americans a voice in a country dominated by leftist ideas of superiority where everyone is a victim and everyone else is a racist. You disgust me, and if you ever need to know how Bernie's plans will ever work don't ask your Bernie buddies to answer with objectivity.
@grantheyns27378 жыл бұрын
+TRAILERSPOT I didn't mean he has no knowledge because he grew up a million air, he just doesn't understand what it means to be a family living on a normal income, he can't relate to the majority of his own country yet he wants to lead them, he promises change at the cost of racial minorities. If that's what you think will fix America then good for you, but Bernie has countless times shown he will be working along side the normal income citizens making America more developed and evening the distribution of wealth. Even if he fails, if I lived in America that's the kind of attitude I would want my president to have. Not some racist who cares for nothing but himself, he is like a little child with money and suits and people fall for his charade because he talks himself up and puts everyone else down. I think America is very confused at the moment, and I hope you realise you are the laughing stock of the world for letting such an ignorant man achieve so much power (votes).

These things go in cycles but the bureaucracy is so thick even if he were to be elected he couldn't really change much. Look at Obama who is far more of a corporatist moderate, much like Hillary Clinton. The republicans wouldn't let him do shit for a few years so what do you think would happen to Bern?
@whateverittakes16738 жыл бұрын
***** Sanders would need a new congress with a strong D majority in both houses and he would need the captains of industry on his side as well. He would need some help from Senate Rs to seat what would probably be mostly activist liberal justices which wouldn't happen. Sure he is a good man and I believe in many of his ideas but it's just not going to happen this time. Maybe we will get a Warren in 2020 or someone more to the left in 2024 but generally we don't get 3 different D administrations in a row. Spend less money for military.Done.
@dt71978 жыл бұрын
+PLUTREA Yeah! Totally right, because the United State's spends more on Defense/military than the next 26 biggest countries do COMBINED. 25 of which are allies to the united states anyway. All of those countries don't have a country right? Because they don't spend a 1 tenth as much on military? What about all the other countries? Over 180 countries with freedom in the world, none of which need military like ours to "have a country"......but yeah, other people are naive.
@TheToffen8 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Tiffany Tell us things from your own mind rather than take words almost completely directly from a TV show. But yes, military spending can be cut, OR spend less on useless projects like the F-35 fighter. There is way too much money flat out going to waste on projects like those, so either stop fucking funding things that don't work or cut military spending as a whole.
@TheToffen8 жыл бұрын
+PLUTREA No, the US spends the most on military. As of the end of 2015, only 6% of our budget goes to healthcare. And there's a way too cut military spending without reducing their power. It's called stop blatantly wasting money on projects like the F-35 Fighter. They made a whole fleet of those things when they are still broken and flawed. Do you know how many projects are funded in the military that don't finish or turn out to be complete shit? The answer: A lot. The US today is spending MORE than twice as much(percentage wise) of our federal budget than they were 10 years ago. We were still a superpower then, so maybe, JUST MAYBE, cutting the spending just a LITTLE won't reduce our military's power.

The idea that universal healthcare works in Denmark, because there are few people and does not work in the US, because there are many people makes no sense. First, empirics show that it works in larger European countries as well. Second, a larger system such as in the US should have more marked power to purchase drugs at low costs. Maybe, just maybe the problem with Obamacare was that despite some progress most benefits go to the insurance industry, thus regualar people have less reason to defend it. This would be much different with a singel payer system that substantially lowers costs for the middle class.

YDKSAB I think Bernie is a much stronger candidate than Trump. Money in politics has to go. Too much focus on what the elites want, regardless of party. Bernie isn't "buying" any votes. Trump is also "buying" votes by promising huge tax cuts while promising to increase spending on things like the military. Which we already spend more than the entire world already. So, according to this logic, both candidates are "buying" votes, which I disagree with.

Promising tax cuts is not Buying votes idiot. He's not stealing someone's money to give to someone else. If Bernie paying for people's education himself? No. Tax cuts means keep your money. It's policy. There should actually be no taxes. How can you bribe someone with their own money LOL.

Everyone in public office swears to uphold the Constitution; they all just have to do what they have already sworn they would do. The documents America was founded on says "All Men are created Equal". Not just white men, or even just Americans; but all men. If you do not you are not a Real American, not even the founding fathers lived up to what their Ideals were but now we can and have to just to survive. *_Only the truth of life can turn this world right side up._* Without the truth there can be no real morality, equality, liberty, success, peace, love, or even survival. Literally everything depends on the truth being seen now. This is truth you can and should check for yourself, Search *_Truth Contest_* and read the top entry called "The Present". What is said can and will transform mankind and the world when enough people see it, the difference between knowing and not knowing is checking.

The point is that there were terrible presidents that were affiliated with both the Republican and Democratic party. This is why B. Sander's idea of additionally taxing the richest 0.1% billionaires of the population and investing that into free healthcare, education and infrastructure, as well as A. Yang's idea of giving every american citizen a UBI of $1000 a month payed by taxing trillion dollar tech companies, in addition with B. Obamas idea of cutting military budget in half to pay off national debt with it, is so crucial. Add that with decriminalising drugs, taking climate change seriously, prioritizing philosophy and science in school, taxing churches, more secularism, reducing pharmaceutical cost, and reforming the executive branch through longer training time and ethical profiling tests, and you got yourself a more just, stable, humane, progressed, prosperous and less ridiculous looking America. Currently the rest of the civilized world is just laughing at the USA.

The only (albeit slight) similarly between Trump and Bernie, is the fact that they are both extremists. Extremism often has negative connotation, but I don't think it has to; Trump is an extremist in the same manner to which Hitler was. Bernie is an extremist in, say, the same manner in which Lincoln or Roosevelt were. There is both good and bad extremism, and I think it's obvious as to which way each candidate swings. Bernie's extremism is needed now more than ever in order to change America's corrupt ways; Sometimes, extremism is needed in order to make big changes.
@arno2224449 жыл бұрын
+Shalee Michelle From Europe I don't see Bernie as an extremist, in most european countries he would be part of the center (in between right wing and left wing). ***** Honestly? There's literally zero reason to be rude. If you want to make a point, you should be able to do so without spewing ignorance and insults. The fact that you *can't,* already tells me everything I need to know about *your* intelligence level; That is, that it's nonexistent. Now that that's out of the way, I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say, no? I'm not calling Bernie, "extreme" in a negative manner. I was saying that Bernie is, "extreme" for America's usual taste (if you will), which is so often conservative Republicans who do nothing but continually push America backwards. Republicans often make no real improvements to our country, worried more instead about what benefits their pockets as opposed to what benefits their country and their country's people. I understand that saying Bernie is, "extreme" is just a talking point to sway the favor of the public opinion out of his ball park. I get it, alright? That's the point I was trying to make, perhaps it was just poorly articulated at the time. The GOP and major capitalist news networks do this, also, by calling Bernie a, "socialist." They literally say, "Oh, he's a *socialist* for crying out loud!" adding negative connotation to the term, as if it's a bad thing. *They* repeat what they hear others say. It's a scare-tactic. It's pure propaganda technique. It's a strategy to make the ignorant American people, who often understand little about politics, to be afraid of Bernie and how, "extreme" he is, before they ever even know what he's about. I'm for Bernie, by the way, if I didn't make that clear. I do think Bernie is, "extreme" for Americas usual taste. America is largely Republican (politician-wise), which is largely the problem. Bernie is a massive threat to that, as he goes entirely against what Republicans have; Control in their favor.
@shaleemichelle9 жыл бұрын
arno222444 Yes, I absolutely agree! I was making an arguement in opposition to those who like to compare Trump and Bernie, and say that they're *both* extremists. Do I think Bernie is, "extreme?" Perhaps in the minds of Conservative Republicans. But in the minds of the American people? No, absolutely not. The point I was trying to make in comparison to Trump and Bernie, is that Trump is an extremist in a very negative manner. He only wishes to do horrid things in his position of power; Promote racism, violence, etc. And the Republicans eat it up! Bernie, on the other hand, is the polar opposite of Trump. He's a very kind, gentle person, who's also assertive when necessary, and he gets shit done. Without resorting to race wars, violence, etc. He isn't against the American people (like Trump), he's *for* the American people, and stands beside us. Bernie *is* extreme, but he's "extreme" in a very positive manner. Which is the only way in which he's, "similar" to Trump at all. They're both extremists. But Trump is like the human embodiment of Satan, and Bernie's a Saint. Trump *is* a threat to intelligent thinking people of America. Bernie is like a god-sent for this country. (Off topic, but I do worry that Republicans, or even Hillary, are going to eventually do something to harm his campaign - We will always get the chance to elect another Trump - They're everywhere. But it could be decades before another person of Bernie's type to come along and be the opportunity to turn this country around for the better.)

He was able to afford medicine that allowed him to walk somewhat normally, but can't afford it anymore because it became too expensive for him to get covered. So my twenty six year old cousin, who should be in his absolute prime, can't get the medicine he needs. I have to watch him suffer and listen to him saying if only he could even move in the morning because he gets so stiff. He would walk under Bernie's plan. And he could have a fulfilling life. This is not who we are, and not what we should be. America is better than this. Healthcare should be a right for all people.

Bernie sounds like a martyr in the making. This makes me worried.

+mariokarter13 Because he's a scam artist. What's the difference between rich people buying politicians and Bernie buying votes? Same thing. He's just cutting out the middleman. Bernie's entire campaign is, "vote for me and I will give you things." The point is, if he was so great, he wouldn't have to buy people's support.

+YDKSAB There is a big difference idiot. He is not buying anyone, but actually pushing a system that benefits everyone instead of a few wealthy billionaires. A public funded system. I guess you missed the news about the Koch brothers buying politicians in order to cut social services to people, while cutting taxes for themselves. Why else do you vote for politicians and pay taxes if not to give us things ? God you people are fucking dumb. Only great people get the peoples support by the way.

+YDKSAB I told you that difference on 2 other comments. You seem personally committed to this...
