Seeing Hugh Laurie in _House_ was really odd for me and others in the UK who grew up watching him play a complete (and hilarious) buffoon on _Blackadder_ and in his comedy double-act with Stephen Fry. I still find it difficult to compute!

When I watched the first episode of House for the first time I was shocked, but not surprised. Having seen Hugh Laurie mainly in comedic roles before, I hadn't really felt that he was doing his best, even with Stephen Fry in the mix. But when he stepped into the doctor's shoes, I felt for the first time watching him that he had finally come into his own. He was Dr. House (and will forever be). As for the 'funny-ness' of PG Wodehouse, well, he was a comedic genius, after all, no doubt about it. And Bertie Wooster was the first character I remember who could make me laugh with almost every dialogue he uttered.
