I was at that concert in Dodger Stadium in ‘75. I was just a kid and I loved Elton John and I wanted to go see him so, so badly - I was glued to the radio for days desperately trying to win a pair of tickets (“Be the Nth caller…”) - and my Dad surprised me with two tickets and took me to the show. It was a veeeeery long day, but so worth it! A memory I will always cherish. 🎉

Amazing! It was always on my bucket list to see Elton John at Dodger Stadium. I’m much younger than you so I was very much not born yet in 75. In 2022 I went through a rough patch and a bad depression and a self deletion attempt after losing my job/house/husband. I had nothing to live for, but I had tickets to see Elton at Dodger Stadium in November. I forced myself to stay alive to get to the show, and at the show that night at Dodger Stadium i decided, maybe I’ll stick around for a while. Thanks Elton. 💗🙏🏻 he saved my life.

I had given up on life in 2022 after a series of personal tragedies. After my first self deletion attempt failed, I decided I’d hang around just to do my bucket list item of seeing Elton John at Dodger Stadium which I already had tickets for. Figured I’d just stay alive long enough to go to the show, and then I could self delete for real. That was the hardest year of my life. I don’t know how I made it to the show, but I REALLY wanted to see Elton John at Dodger Stadium. At the show, they had a booth with rainbow glitter hair dye. As i was taking selfies with random strangers with pink glitter all over me, dancing a few rows from the stage, I decided to give life another chance. Thanks Elton 💗🙏🏻 wouldn’t be here without you. To anyone reading this who has felt the same, I’m glad you’re still here. If you’re searching for meaning in life, book that trip, buy those tickets, do the thing you’ve been meaning to do. Find your yellow brick road. 🌈🌟

@@joelstrommen7933 Does the ownership of a house that is larger than the Library of Congress preclude one from being humble, or is it the act of mentioning the size discrepancy? To me, it sounded like a joke recognizing his outrageously disproportionate wealth and privilege. If he was bragging, I would agree that he is not humble. I'll take a more charitable view, though, as I can't confirm his intent and the context leads me to believe the joke hypothesis.

In 1980... Elton was celebrating his 10th anniversary with MCA/Universal...he was to hold that celebration at the Troubadour in Los Angeles....at the last minute, it was decided that the Troubadour was unsuitable, and the event was rescheduled for the Palomino on Lankershim. My friends and I had knowledge of the event (we had a friend who was dating Alice Cooper at the time). We drove to the Palomino to scope things out, and discovered they were doing some renovations on the back of the restaurant....there was a crawl space....we would sneak in there one by one ...we hid there for eight hours. Finally, one of friends decided she could not wait any longer....she wanted to leave....that would mean we would all have to leave. By the time that decision was made the Palomino was readying for Eltons celebration....security had been placed right outside our hiding place. We crawled out and informed security we had been there for eight hours, and that we just wanted to leave. The manager of the Palomino wanted us arrested for trespassing....the owner happened to be there, overheard our story, and let us go....as we ran to our car, we were called back. The owner decided that if we were that dedicated to Elton, we should be invited to his celebration....we were told to go get cleaned up, and come back. We did get cleaned up, had something to eat, and returned... When we got back...they had a reserved table for us...our story had been circulated amongst the invited guests, and many came over to ask us if it were true....met lots of people. When Elton finally came out and was posing for photos....I had a cheap Kodak flash cube camera....the professional photographers surrounded Elton with their expensive cameras....Elton saw me, and asked the photographers to step aside....he pulled me forward, and posed for my cheap arse camera.... I have never forgotten that night, and never will. Thank You Elton.

I saw Elton John and Billy Joel back in 1994 with my mom. He is the classiest man I’ve ever seen. He stood and bowed after every single song. Just a beautiful, gracious human being.

Sir Elton John was one of my 1st musician's that I started listening to in the early 70s. I remember( & hopefully still have stored away) his 1st album 'Empty Sky'. I loved all the songs, however 'Skyline Pigeon' was the song that stuck with me the most. The arrangement with the Harpsichord is beautiful & the lyrics studding. I fell in love with all his music. Now I have to try and dig out the album just to make sure it's safe. I know who packs away things like this, I had to while my kids were growing up & I didn't want them to get ruined. 🥰

Elton John; a Genius, an Icon; a Legend and I have been fortunate to see him live five times. His live performances were awesome, spectacular, etc. having Elton John on the show was the best. It was good hearing him share so much about himself.

It's nice to hear his take on how culturally great America is. We as Americans should realize that. To hear it from someone else's point of view being from a different county, it should make us realize how lucky we are.

What a wonderful interview! Elton usually never reveals much about himself and is always diplomatic and politically correct! This was the real Elton with his hair down! His sense of humor, it turns out, reminds me of a gay man of 1960’s-when the gays called each other Mary and Vera. I found it campy and cute, and above all, unexpected. Gays nowadays don’t talk this way! He must be really the happiest and relaxed he’s ever been.

Elton John is one of those living legends that I can not see and hear and not smile and cry. He has been in my life since I first heard his music as a little kid. Far longer than most people I know today other than my family. A beautiful man. A beautiful being. Whom has brought so much joy to my life and the life of so many others with his timeless music. Thank you, Elton John for all the beauty you brought into this world.

I have loved Elton John's (and Bernie Taupin's) music since the mid-70s. He seems to me to be such a wonderful man now, with a supportive family and continued huge fan base. In my mind, he's a true international treasure. Thank you, Mr. Colbert, for airing this.

Always wanted to go to an EJ concert; always missed one that was nearby for different reasons. A friend who went to the last concert that I had missed said that he is the most gracious performer she's ever seen. As in this video, he acknowledged the support of the US public for a lot of his success. And BTW, before there was NEVER TOO LATE, there were the documentary and album TWO ROOMS: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, both fantastic. The documentary, especially, is a lot of fun, watching the energy that he had, jumping onto the piano, wearing the kooky costumes.

Elton was 40 feet from me and he looked at me 8 times! The greatest birthday I’ve ever had! Elton is the greatest artist of all time!

I had the blessing of seeing Elton in 2019 not too long before the world shut down for the Covid pandemic and it reignited my love for music. I have spiraled through depression my entire life and Elton always was part of the soundtrack of my life. I will never forget the sheer joy of listening to him play piano and sing with such fiery. It was such a pleasure to be able to be in this same room as him. I’ve seen some greats in my time. Paul McCartney, Prince and Cher to name a few and to this day Elton still takes the cake.
