I remember back in 90's my mom always coming home from her job at a gas station and just being so frustrated and fed up with so many guys would hit on her or touch her inappropriately and i was there alot when most did... I just wanted it to stop but she didn't want to lose her job and that was just working at a gas station!🙉 NOWADAYS, thanks to people like Anita Hill to speaking up back then about it! I am thankful to see a small light at the end of the tunnel in 2021... But we still sadly have far to go! So keep going!😊

Wow, in the 90s my mom was complaining about Hilary Clinton acting like an independent woman and Anita Hill daring to heap insult on a Republican nominee.... 30 years later, I've grown and have a different perspective. It's not so easy to talk to my mom about even the most basic of subjects, especially as she cheers on Trump ... I could not have more respect for women like Anita Hill and your mom who stuck up to that BS and just said it was wrong because just calling it wrong back then got you pounded on. It's hard to remember how hard it was back then...

Highest respect for her courage. A small quibble: it's sad that Clarence Thomas could even be considered for a LIFETIME appointment given his extreme partisanship and other disqualifying factors, even before she spoke up with her testimony. I like the idea of term limits for the court.

She absolutely changed my life. When those hearing took place I was working my first "corporate" job in an office where sexual harassment was the expected norm. The behavior of these men was appalling - pressing themselves up against us, suggestive comments about our bodies, and more and worse. Then Anita Hill came along and all of a sudden there were actual policies about this behavior and all the men went into a giant MELT DOWN. "Whaddaya mean I can't rub my hard on up against you anymore?"" Every single woman in that place felt like we suddenly had a voice and it was ALL thanks to Anita. She will always be my hero.

At that time it was always the accusers fault. The way they dressed, and the way they carried themselves, or just because they smiled at they're boss. See, they were giving off those "come-hither" vibes. AND if you rejected the advances, or reported it... YOU were fired. Suing to get justice was a ploy to get a big bundle of cash, because every one knew that you (the victim) was just a gold digger. Yes, Miss Hill is a courageous woman!

@@poorthing Will it ever end? I am sure it can and will get better but I also think that it will never be completely gone. It would help if we stopped saying things like: Boys will be boys. It will not mean that if your son behaves sexually agressive you have to villify him but you should not accept this behaviour. Teach them to have respect for another human being. Teach your children that they never have the right to touch someone when they don't want it. Ofcourse there can be misunderstandings especially of you just started the boy-girl game. But one comment, I don't want this, means say sorry, back off. Flirting can still be very enjoyable without touching. Being drunk is not an excuse for sexual agressive behaviour. Don't drink alcohol If it has that effect on you. If you are a supervisor, don't go out with one of your employees for a private dinner. Don't make okes with a sexual undertone. I sometimes make an analogy: If a gay man approached you in this way, what would you think about that? Hoe would you react? I use this example because men seem to be concerned that a gay man would hit on them. When a woman is accusing a man of inappropriate behaviour, it should be taken very seriously but BOTH have to be treated with respect and have a fair treatment. No discussion about how they were dressed, where they were walking.

Blasey Ford impressed me with her composure. I don't know If what she told really happened the way she remembers. The additional witnesses could have helped with that. It will never happen bro Sorry to break it too y'all but she is not qualified at all to be on the bench. She's a lawyer/educator not a judge. She's never served as clerk to a supreme court justice/USCOA to begin with, not to mention the fact that she has zero experience serving as a judge on the US Court of Appeals first/second circuit which is smth every supreme court justice has gone through to get to the SCOTUS. Really don't care what you think about her but her being a justice makes zero sense whatsoever.

I have been torn about freedom of expression when it comes to the sexual images of women on tv and videos and what impact this may have on how boys and men view women. Even the so called conservatives give a nod and wink to the idea that it's ok to view and use certain women in a sexual manner, but also view it as degrading. I believe that the answer to the future of civilization has to include a narrative about women that centers on respect for all women's humanity.

Please think about a bigger platform or exclusive shows that could perhaps span the length of the late show. That is when these conversations can really benefit everyone, and by that I mean the world audience; audience outside united states because I know how many in the US think that US is the rest of the world. I hope to see you use your platform in a better way for such key key moments.

All through this segment I heard them using words like courage and hope and acknowledgement - but the word I kept waiting for them to use, and the one that I think really sums up her legacy, is: validation. Victims of gender violence whose stories were systematically invalidated, the way Biden tried to invalidate her own, saw in her the possibility for a changing of the culture so that they could be believed and have their experiences validated: these awful things happened to you, we will now listen to you, we will now work with you to make it wrong for people to abuse their power in this way. I’m so glad Stephen had her on the show, though I wish she had been on for another segment in which she talked about her teaching and other interests, to make us see the human behind the icon.

When I saw her name on the passenger manifest, I immediately rushed out to the passenger terminal to meet her. She was incredibly gracious to me and radiated remarkable wisdom. I suspect even the meekest, most mild of people have victimized someone or something at some point, it's like the bad part of us is also part of us, and we all need to learn to not listen to that part.
