@No Chance Without Pasta Its a shame - as the gun thing is very much out of control. I'm actually glad I don't have a gun, as I don't trust myself. There have been times in my life when i've been far removed from my rational best and have done something stupid. However, always walked away, a lesson often learned. The right to bear arms, is from a document written a very long time ago, it's not really appropriate today, as we live in a different world. Back in 1787 it was a different world, people treated medical conditions with Leeches! So, a different world and one not safe when so many have guns & so much anger and division - it really is trouble waiting to happen. All these horrible mass shootings. But it is a 'genie out of the bottle situation' - I don't think there is a way of taking all guns off people - fewer guns and machine guns/automatics would be a start. But as we know any idiot can pull a trigger and even those not idiots at the wrong time do stupid things. Myself included. We can only live in hope that a calmer / kinder president in the future will do the same for his people - calm them and bring together - not have everyone attack each other. I wish the best for our American friends in the next week.

@PragaMaterUrbium I do not make excuses for my insane countrymen or their enablers - which might include a lot more people than I thought as I write this... If I had to guess why our country is addicted to violence, it's because we've never seen the horrors of war closer than on the television screen. That was enough to prompt protests against the war in Vietnam, which gives me hope. Still, we've got a lot of work to do when it comes to owning up to our mistakes

The fact that a crowd of people who had previously been been enjoying an event decide to storm the stage once they figure out they're being pranked, with one person apparently even going for a gun, is genuinely depressing. Though at the same time it's also kinda funny in a dark way that these are some of the same people who always ridicule people for "getting triggered" over something like this. Must be a bit surreal to be a walking cliché. Much respect to Sacha for putting himself out there like this for the sake of comedy.
@thenewjerusalem2483
@thenewjerusalem2483 3 жыл бұрын
"once they figure out they're being pranked" Did they figure out that there was something wrong with the message, or did they merely receive information about the identity of the person who was singing the message? There seems to be something deeper than ideology involved: individual reactions aren't adapted to the existence of photography. The old idea of two people bearing witness as direct eyewitnesses of one consequential action that they can remember directly, without assistance of any kind, is often not what is happening. There are conspiracies (e.g. Enron seems to have been a fly-by-night enterprise). Awareness of being observed and recorded by others would normally evoke an attempt at self-examination from the point of view of those others. If somebody is concerned that the outside observer's point of view could be a distorted image that makes that somebody appear to be evil, then the desire to disrupt the transmission of the distorted image would be legitimate, and the question would be what methods are both acceptable and feasible. A new commandment: "You shall not consent to participate in the transmission of misrepresentations against anybody." The knee jerk reaction of reaching for a violent, criminal method is the problem.
@VidsByJeremiah

The only people singing along were Cohen's plants. They stormed the stage because the man was spewing hate and inciting violence and wouldn't shut up. He bought into stereotypes that rights activists are racists. There was no infiltration. Those are libertarians. They march with blm and lgbtq and for 1st and 2nd amendment rights. @@waddellkate101 My first impression is that all three of the following are pejorative: (1) "snowflakes" (2) "libtards" (3) "right wing nuts". As for style of communication, as in the sentence fragment "are the first to call people snowflakes or libtards", I think that we're talking about such large numbers of people that each group will include some people who routinely and habitually refer to others using pejorative labels, and will also include people who rarely criticize messengers and instead focus on policies and messages. People face real problems, and I don't understand why anybody would begin by hoping for all components of feasible and functional solutions to come from one political tribe, if there are only two major political tribes of roughly the same size.

Later he waves his partner over (who has been questioning SBC the whole time), to talk away from SBC, and you hear him say "You know who that is, right??" and laughing. I think his partner also figured it out, and he went back and questioned SBC, pretending he didn't know it was a prank. So they fall into your "let's play along" category. 😁

I don't know how he does it. Every character is so similar, basically pretends to be something he isn't and makes people feel uncomfortable. Such a genius. I'm from Britain and whenever the subject of comedians come up he barely makes the top 20 and when it comes to nowadays comedians he would be lucky to make top 10 and that's just in Britain. I hate comedy that only punches 1 way, I prefer when it punches every direction. The original Ali G show was great and so was Ali G in da house, then borat was a weakened comedy character and since then it's been down hill hence why he isn't respected by fellow comedians or isn't appreciated by the tv companies who continually leave him out of top 20s/10s. Comedy is piss poor nowadays as it's too lefty and political. I miss the good old days when you could be edgy and go against the mainstream, that doesn't happen anymore. Sacha isn't edgy as the entire political and media class hate Trump so he isn't pushing boundaries, he's getting his head patted and given massive praise for doing his tired comedy routine.

Change Begins That is your opinion 🤷‍♀️ I think he brilliantly exposes how easy it is to make us all follow stupid norms and false prophets.. and getting us to laugh at ourselves doing it.. if/when you are ready to look honestly at yourself that is 🤓

@@tinat.4508 I agree with your whole point apart from the start where we give Sacha credit for this when he has already done the exact same thing over and over again. Every couple of years it's the same routine but a different character which is, be an outrageous character and make people (including himself on purpose) look stupid or uncomfortable. I just think "genius" is a bit strong a term I'd use. I'd say for the early stuff he was definitely working at genius levels but nowadays it's boring to slightly funny territory because I know what's coming. As you say it's my opinion. I hope you have a nice day.

He played brilliantly in recent movie the trial of Chicago 7 (as Abbie Hoffman). A world-class actor😍😍😍

The fact that Sacha can convince people that his characters are real is not just a testament to his acting skill --- but to the low bar of intelligence in America specifically. He managed to pull off being a foreign dimwit for five days with two strangers; all the while having a crew (albeit likely a small subtle one) come into their house and film. The fact that his shenanigans don't make people question it is hilarious.

In fairness, I entirely chalk that up to his talent. I have no doubt he only does it when he knows he can get away with it anyway, and the preparation must be absolutely astonishing. Levels and levels of provers and cut outs and a tonne of other stuff to convince the people he stays with. Once they've bought the big lie, they're not going to question it as long as he plays it out absolutely perfectly. What we see is amazing. What we *don't* see is utterly mind melting.

Well, you have McDonald Trump lying every single day and yet all his poorly educated supporters still supporting him as if he is a messiah.
