As a lifelong chisel fan-have followed them forever-have every record (vinyl)-every CD-every music video-I have books about them and everything-even I did not realise and understand how truly great they are-simply the greatest musical band ever to come-from Australia-this magical land.

Don Walker is such an amazing songwriter and musician, penning most of Cold Chisel’s greatest songs including Saturday Night, Cheap Wine, Choir Girl, Standing on the Outside, Four Walls, Khe Sanh along with many others, and co-wrote Flame Trees…And he’s a quantum physicist!

Just stumbled across your channel, what a first time visit. It took me back to the days when I would see them play at the Bridgeway Hotel in Adelaide. Bloody Awesome!!!!

I was in the crowd yelling “Home and Broken Hearted” which wasn’t a single and they rarely played it. I whooped when it started haha! Oh, and I HAVE to add, the day before the concert I was working at Star City Casino where the band was staying and I ran into Mossy (guitar player), and I said “hey Mossy how are ya, you guys gonna do Rosaline?” And he winked and said “I’ll see what I can do”. They NEVER play it live and it my favourite song, such a beautiful ballad. Bastard knew they were already gonna play it, and I was there the night this video was made. Now I’ve got tears from watching it again…

@@ben2976 glad to hear it mate! I recommend listening to the full albums here on KZbin, they have many great songs that were “album” songs, ie not released as singles because they aren’t “pop” enough, but in my mind they are the best. Start with the first album, just called “Cold Chisel”.

So far I like Cold Chisel LP, Twentieth Century and Circus Animals the best. Breakfast at Sweethearts is cool but only a 7/10 which is still a good mark. How's about the drummer singing and playing guitar.....that's some crazy shit man. Talent pure talent! I can imagine this band being huge is the South if they had of been given a chance.....but radio all over the world has local content quotas and some damn good shit just never got heard. Now I just gotta get to Eisenhower Park, NY for the cricket world cup if I can afford a ticket and remember how to get beyond Jamaica Center-Parsons subway station and out to Long Island. I had watched a few of your later random Jimmy, Cold Chisel reactions, and i enjoyed your appreciation of one of my favourite rock bands but then i saw this reaction, and i couldn't not subscribe. I was about 13 when i first got into Chisel but they were already broken up. They were my favourite band all through my teens and then they reformed in 2009, I finally got to see them live and yes they are absolutely brilliant. I watched the whole concert about 2 metres away from Ian Moss, and let me tell you he works damn hard. Well the whole band does. I saw Jimmy solo last year. He did a 3 hour set with gaps of about 3-5 seconds between songs and only had one break when his daughter came on and sang a song but he ended up singing with the backup singers halfway through. One of the great things about Chisel is that the sharing of lead singing duties just works so well, and i love when Jimmy controls his vocals to sing backup. Its brilliant and i loved your observation about Mossy...he is super talented...he plays lead guitar, has a voice that is just beautiful and he can write songs. Loved you giving the bassist, Phil Small, shit. Yeah he's a slacker in comparison to the others but he did write their biggest selling single, My Baby, and someone has to take a back seat. This is my last re-edit but at some stage, you should consider doing the Chisel journey with their albums chronologically. Every album offers something different, and the two different eras showcase the maturity of the band members and their obvious mutual respect for each other. A tidbit for you, in the early era, Jimmy (born in Glasgow) and Steve (born in Liverpool, England) used to regularly resort to punch-ups when they would argue as they were the two firey members of the band, Mossy is the talented but reserved member, Walker the much older genius songwriter, and Small just filling the gaps but holding his own with 4 geniuses.

Ty mate just watched this entire video as you are one of the few who actually played the whole concert. I saw them on this tour in Sydney and as ever they delivered a fantastic night for my wife and I, I have loved our Chisel since they started and always will. There is no style to Chisel they just are, they can play anything and make it brilliant and still do too this day. So ty mate i appreciate your love and devotion to our fantastic Cold Chisel they still are one of the best live bands ever and we love that they are now being appreciated world wide they deserve it and more. Shakey, you need to check out their cover of Wild Thing from The Last Stand concert '83. Chisel would give the Springstien and the E street band a run for their money. Incredible performance. The Last Stand Concert - which I was at - remains in right up there. That was RAW chisel, Ringside is more polished.

Thanks for the reaction video. Brings back great memories. First introduced to Chisel in 1978 when a mate of mine said a "friend of his brother's (Ian Moss) just released this album... " the rest is history. Saw them religiously in the late 70s early 80s. Saw Barnsey 2 years ago ... still going strong. Cheers.

I went to this concert with my girlfriends in our early 20s. Cold Chisel just seems to be a staple in everyone's youth growing up in Australia. Even now it's rare to find a young aussie not belting out the words to their music when it's played in public. This is still one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The interaction with the crowd, the pure focus on the music and the band themselves is just unbeatable and I miss those kinds of concerts. I still have the DVD and shirt I brought from this concert and this brought back so many memories. Thanks for your reaction

Mate you are a legend Chisel is one of the Greatest Bands ever Nothing in Nth America comparers. If you know you know We grew up with this soul and man Thank you for getting it out there. I am dancing with a bottle of Dewers 12yr and just loving it. We got to see Chisel at our local under a different name when they were preping for a tour with some new songs. The pub was destroyed buy the end of gig. What a night. I missed the round concert but got to see their last. I LOVE THIS BAND. People say that the the rest of the world missed out seeing them, but that just made them what they are, Australian Folk Legends The real deal. Thanks Michael appreciated.

Cold Chisel were indeed a band worthy of world acclaim... even if the Yanks fucked them over! LOL... we got to keep them for ourselves. The one thing that the band said that they regret is not trying harder to get into the US market. Unfortunately they had a bad experience with a US record executive and US record company which made them not want to pursue anything in the US. Such a shame the world didn't get to hear their music.
