@@Zaphod-ef9yznot many have savings. Instead you'll find how expensive their old homes are to heat, maintain, a boiler breaks and it's hundreds, roof leaks and it's thousands. You name it. If we spend X amount of money on gas to heat our home we need to take into consideration that we don't use heating when we go to work and many switch it off at bed time. They need to spend double because they're at home all the time and feel the cold a lot more. Getting old isn't fun and after a whole life of hard work no one should be in that situation.

100, 000 Pensioners may/will be pushed into poverty. This is the number of pensioners in the present day that may/will be pushed into poverty, if this is the case then pensioners of the future may/will be pushed into poverty also, It's sounding very bleak. One thing is for sure, the politicians that sat in parliament and voted to take away the winter fuel payment from pensioners they will never be faced with poverty. Makes me feel sick to the core at the way pensioners are being mistreated. Great Britain 2024 -25 and beyond ☹️

The one who doesn't know or cannot apply for additional benefits? how a handful of people in government decide to cut winter fuel benefits which individuals could be entitled to ? This government has made the unwise decision at the wrong timing especially when people are struggling.

@@derekmorse8171the OP is saying that it is not just pensioners struggling to pay for their heating and energy. There are people on low income who at best get 1-2% rise in pay if they get one and are poorer each year when inflation rises faster than their wages. At least pensioner’s buying power is protected as they get an above inflation rise each year due to the triple lock. With the price of energy I don’t think the difference between turning on or off the heating is £200 or £300 paid into your account. It would help but I get the sense the media are over sensationalising the situation meaning there are many pensioners that think they cannot turn on their heating because of the coverage

You are quite correct in your "misunderstanding" it's not just about pensioners, whole swathes of the private sector were hammered by the Labour communists while the public sector was rewarded this will not promote growth so it will get worse, however "at least" 4,000 excess deaths will be recorded in official documents this Winter by pensioners freezing in their own homes who have most probably paid tax all their lives (The ones who get pension credit and Winter fuel payments most probably did not pay tax all their lives for whatever reason, it's not a judgement!), it's seems a terrible price to make them pay but hey you are "entitled" to your opinion, its just seems wrong!?!
