Cold Start 3rd Gen Cummins -6F -21C

2005 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 24v Common Rail Cummins Cold Start. 144k miles. Wasn’t plugged in. Wanted to test it and see how she did without being plugged in. She fires right up when it’s in single digits/teens and up. Last night got to -17F (-27C) and hasn’t been started for a couple days. I also have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi, 224k miles. Fired right up this morning no problem at -15F. It will probably need a new battery soon though. Kinda interesting to see how much gas and diesel are different from each other. Thanks for watching!

3 cylinder high idle was only in 24v second gen.

Hey man I got a better offer it’s a 2005 Cummins fully loaded and has had a lot of work done to it and trade it for my 2010 ram 1500 Sport it’s a 5:9 what do you think

Hey man I wanna trade my 2010 Ram 1500 for a 2006 Cummins 3500 dually what do you think my truck has 179,300 and the Cummins has 366,000 km but it’s in very good shape

Cummins is more capable and just over all a better engine but I bet that 2010 ram is more comfortable. Depends what you’re doing. I think it’s a solid trade for what people are asking for diesels these days.
