Lauren definitely did good on her first run. I think departments should take more consideration with how many officers are lefties and should allow officers to use their personal weapons or “personalize” their weapons as long as they qualify. Great video. Inspiring me to record and post videos to record my progress and share ideas.

As a lefty it is insane to think a department would not let you put an ambi on. That sounds like a lawyer is making policy, not police.

@@dglesterhardunkichud7860 If I was a lefty and my department didn't let me make it ambi I would straight up quit and blame their bureaucracy for getting in the way of progression. If I can't have the most efficient option as *law enforcement* when it's readily available for a *civilian* then I am not risking my life for their rules.

Hey Lauren, as a life long lefty also, I had to train with AR's before they even had ambi options (yea i'm old lol). Anyway, I was taught on reloads, to reach up with my right hand, grab the mag and push the mag release with my right thumb. Strip the magazine, grab the new mag, insert/tug, then reach around the magwell with my right hand and use my index and middle finger to press the bolt release. Has worked for me, for over 20 years. I manipulate the right hand safety, the same was you do.

Lauren did an excellent job! She had so much going on and never had a problem she couldn’t immediately solve. Every time she ran into something she adapted and overcame. When one thing didn’t work she seamlessly went to the next thing. That was bad ass.

Tips for Lauren, monkey paw grip, thumb in left side to actuate. Beer can grip new mag, use right thumb (while new mag in hand) to push magazine catch, insert new mag (if old mag is stuck, slide hands over both new and old mag, to grab and drop old mag, insert new). Smaller grip, a2 grip or Magpul SL or other shorter travel grips so she can hit the ping pong paddle with the index finger. (Without seriously modifying for ambi Move the stock back another notch, possibly an additional one w/o plate carrier. Learn to charge the carrying handle with the right hand, using the standard T grip / pinch

Sucks that Lauren can't modify her weapon into Ambi. I modified my personal weapon and it's far better than having to use your trigger finger. What I did when I was in the military was practice switching the safety with my trigger finger. It took a little bit of time but eventually, I was able to flick it from safety to fire and then onto the trigger pretty quickly. It's a pain at first but you adjust. That's the only suggestion I have for her. Practice and make it a habit. I think departments should take into consideration their lefties, the military is starting to.

💯 This should definitely be taken care of as this is an officer safety issue. Granted, most officers don't use long guns, but there is a chance they might need to. Hence why they are issued them.

To each their own I just find it a little distracting and thought it might be good to point out incase any one else feels the same way. great video keep shooting. @@DoWork316 these are range drills bro, not every skill we try and work on the range has the tie in with real world. It's all about what you trained with. Two possibilities come to mind: 1 - She's left handed, but like the rifle can't run a left side holster due to policies. 2 - She's left *eye dominant* which means the rifle optic needs to be on the left shoulder/eye, and the pistol is naturally right handed.

I don't no how police departments work where you guys are from but down here in Biloxi Mississippi. You can use your personal rifles and pistols. You just have to be requalified on them. All my cop buddies carry there personal firearms. Because what they were issued at the department are sometimes old and wore out. One of my buddies even runs a tavor bullpup. Sad part with my cop buddies tho is none of them hardly do any training. I try talk them into coming to my range to run drills all the time. They never want to run there guns which makes zero sense to me. Like I told them if u are being paid to carry a firearm you need to be confident with it. Not going to a static range twice a year and shoot a couple hundred rounds.
