No. You loved the old Cold Steel. This New Owner CS uses cheap low end stainless steel being sold at outrageous prices. Lynn Thompsons Cold Steel made hard used quality knives with great steel. That's why Cold Steel "HAD" a strong loyal following. I was one of them. I have a ton of them . I haven't bought one since I found out they were using LOW END STAINLESS.

They aren't, my distal baton rod flew out after 1 day of ownership. I seriously deployed it 4-5 times max. If this is your only line of defense, you roll the dice each time you extend it. They should stick with knives, and leave the batons to other companies.

I am an Alaskan cold steel maniac and Lynn Thompson has supported my favorite local gun shop and guide for years. I swear by almost everything they make because they are tough, don't bend, break, fail or jam. Consequently I buy them by the dozens and give them away like candy...the tactically naive need me to help them protect themselves so I steer them to products they will never replace. The deployables know their strength and have never complained. Just my thing. Glad to to see a quality baton is back. I plan to buy one of each. Which is to say, 6. one each carry. one each car. one each wife. drive on. OBTW the skull won't explode like that in real world cause the integument holds everything together - we are all just bags of water with a few sticks to hold the heavy duty water balloon together. We aren't saltines, we're not pumpkins, we're about as tough as a year old cow. But a good whack will still beak a peripheral bone, stun an axillary nerve, slice open a forehead and put a 4 inch crack in a cranium.

In Tennessee, you have to have a training card. To carry a baton for defense. That states you are trained in its less than lethal applications. However, since they are considered deadly weapons. You also have to be legally able to own a firearm as well. Which is the second requirement for carrying a baton. Any armed guard school and some martial arts dojos teach the class and will provide you with the training card. The card must be carried on your person when you carry the baton in Tennessee. You can carry any kind of knife. There are no restrictions or prohibitions.

I miss the hanging pig, it would be so much better than plastic heads. I would like to see how much damage the tool can take. I miss the old days, heavy metal music, killer back drops, and Lynn Thompson describing the history of the tool, and how Cold Steel made improvements compared to the swap meat look-a-likes. For all I know, this tool will bend and never close again when hitting something solid like a man's shoulder, or a pig, just like a cheesy swap meat baton. When I saw Lynn Thompson put his name behind his product, I knew that it represented him, and his company/products, and that’s based on how many products I purchased after watching him use those products in a torture test. God bless, and power to the working class.

In Texas, expandable batons are generally legal for civilian carry. The state's laws concerning weapons are outlined in the Texas Penal Code, which underwent significant changes in recent years to streamline and clarify regulations regarding what weapons are legal for civilians to possess and carry. Key points to consider: 1. **Penal Code Section 46.01** - Definitions of prohibited weapons do not include expandable batons. 2. **Penal Code Section 46.02** - Addresses the unlawful carrying of weapons, but expandable batons are not listed among the prohibited items. 3. **Changes in Law** - In 2019, House Bill 446 was passed, which removed certain items from the list of prohibited weapons. This bill specifically legalized the carrying of clubs (which include batons), brass knuckles, and other previously restricted weapons for civilian use. Therefore, it is legal for civilians to carry expandable batons in Texas, provided they are not used in a manner that would be considered illegal or reckless. However, always check the most current state and local laws, as regulations can change, and specific restrictions might apply in certain areas or situations.
