I'm getting married in May in a viking styled wedding, I myself will be wearing a ton of armor and viking period clothes, wanted to get the viking sword to use during the wedding and ceremony but they were on back order for who knows how long and I couldn't put off getting myself a sword and this sword was the only one close enough in styling to the Viking sword. This is a great sword and I will still use it during the ceremony but would have much rather had the Viking sword considering it being a Viking wedding. Well, at least it will be one hell of a wedding. We're making it a three day event and hopefully we will be getting video of the wedding and the 3 day after party where we will be holding a lot of games including axe throwing (I bought 3 of the Norse Hawks for this event) would like to get more for this occasion, but our budget only allowed us to have this limited number. Well, keep an eye out for our wedding (including this sword) in the ceremony and after party!

Hey Cold Steel, I love your products, (AK-47, XL Voyager, Training Bowie Knife, American Lawman) but I'm looking for a nice lightweight one handed sword. I know that smaller one handed swords are mainly used for their tips, unless it's a cavalry sword of course, but I want a lightweight one hander that doesn't sacrifice a cutting edge for the tip. I'd appreciate if you have any recommendations as to which sword is a good fit. Thanks.

I love historical sword designs too. But there are definitely some nice and more practical looking fantasy weapon designs. Like the Master Sword in the Legend of Zelda series. One of the more realistic and practical looking video games swords out there. The only flaw I can tell is the more cylinder like grip which might make edge alignment more difficult if you made a 100% faithful functional replica. Also various swords in The Lord of the Rings movies are great examples of more practical looking fantasy sword designs!

@@hansvonmannschaft9062 Arent these made by Windlass for Cold Steel?
@hansvonmannschaft90624 жыл бұрын
@@shockwave6213 For this one, I'd say yes, Windlass, and it's almost a carbon copy of that brand's own version. But last year I played a game while shopping: "Who made which sword for whom?", well, Cold Steel was the brand with the largest amount of... donors? Some are quite awesome, and worth tipping your hat to: The German Long Sword, for example, is made by Dynasty Forge, you can see it in the KoA webpage listed as Oakeshott type XV "The Duelist", where you'll also be able to witness how they moved the PoB 2" or so towards the guard by adding a ring in the CS version (Also explains the fact about it being the most expensive CS sword). - Then you got the CS 1796 Cavalry Sabre, that one is made by... (drumroll)... Deepeeka! That's right, the brand everybody laughs at, but, lo' and behold, they do happen to have good products (I own a couple), you just gotta look hard and don't jump into the bandwagon, or cheap sayings like: "You get what you pay for!", because people seem to forget about something called currency exchange difference. Thus, some products that are exported to the US end up having lower prices simply because the currency at point of origin is worth less (Granted however, some Deepeeka stuff is indeed crap - but with a note to make: There's a huge confusion regarding which ones are "Battle Ready" and which ones aren't, a confusion I've even noticed in retailers themselves, regardless, some items are undoubtly lacking in a couple departments). Well m'friend these three I had on top of my head. May you have a great day!
@Gamerdude5353 жыл бұрын
Viking and Norman swords are pretty much earlier variations of Arming Swords. They’re all straight blade double-edged one handed swords that can cut/slash and stab/thrust, Though Viking and Norman swords are just a slight bit shorter on average and have a bit more emphasis on cutting but they can definitely still be used to stab/thrust. And Viking swords usually have a slightly wider blade too.

Cold Steel knives are great. Cold Steel swords vary, because mostly if not all are actually made overseas by different companies. Their German Longsword is made by an a-class company like Dynasty Forge, then you got their 1796 Cavalry Saber made by a low cost brand called Deepeeka, but! Deepeeka happens to have the means and knowledge to cater to a customer's requirement, so they can up or down their game as requested, and this sword if I remember correctly is made by Windlass, and even when I should check before signing out, the odds are so high Imma leave it at just that. Windlass is a great company anyway. Cheers.
@Gamerdude5353 жыл бұрын
It’s only because their edge alignment wasn’t 100% spot on with some of their hits. They got more skill with swords than most modern people do but they’re not quite sword masters. Even skilled sword users don’t always perform perfect cuts. They’re well made blades that will take a flexing though.
@Gamerdude5353 жыл бұрын
Also something else to take into consideration. Iirc Katanas and maybe other curved swords seem to be more beginner friendly when it comes to cuts. Especially with Katanas they have a bit of a stiffer blade. Where as these European style swords tend to have a bit more flex and good edge alignment is especially important to make strong cuts. Takes more practice.
