Hi there. There are actually partial steel liners , I could see them clearly in a video of a guy that customizes the scales and makes a complete disassembly. The other color is OD green. Thats the one I have. Cheers!!!

Looks like a good lightweight multipurpose EDC/defensive blade. I thought of Nutn's Al Mar Eagle before he even mentioned it. That's a nice knife, and it's very long for the weight, but it favors the utility side. Lock up isn't as strong, and traction isn't as good. Not a big deal if you have other lethal weapons and are extremely unlikely to use your knife defensively. But if you're not carrying a firearm and your knife is your only lethal weapon, this is probably a better choice. A little extra bulk and weight, but it's more capable in a defensive role. I'm fine with the more economical steel. I really like these long, very lightweight folding knives. I don't want more metal than I need for the knife's purpose. I have a stronger folding knife with full steel liners I bought to carry for farm work, but if I'm not doing manual labor where my knife is a working tool I need to be strong, I can do without those liners. For an urban or desk job knife, I like it long and lightweight. I don't need strength for those kinds of cutting tasks (packages, paper, twine, food, etc.), I just want enough strength so that it can reliably function as an emergency defensive weapon. The knife in this review seems like that kind of knife. I'll consider it the next time I'm in the market for a folding knife to carry daily.

The broken skull has been my everyday tactical blade for years because of its length to weight to strength ratio. When factoring all of those in with no apologies, it’s unmatched.

I have the broken skull xhp in blue. My favorite back pocket knife. I might get one when the price drops to what it should be. The prices GSM have are insane. They call things budget but charge premium prices for the lowest tier steel their kukuri they want $189

I'd like to see it in 14c28n or AUS10. I've got a Steve Austin-designed Working Man. It's in 440C. Easy to carry, decent edge retention, and I like drop point designs for EDC. Clip points are my #2.

Awesome video as usual.... I’ve been reading thru the comments and it seems like most who have it like it....I was holding off on picking one up (no particular reason) just haven’t really got one yet...the other blade very similar to this one is the ranch boss I do have that one and it’s kinda the reason I didn’t rush to get a range boss. I like the scales of the range boss better than the faux bone on my ranch boss

Bought 2 xl tanto voyagers that broke in the exact same spot. Cold steel wouldn't warranty either one for me. Wasn't abusive to the knives(not a single mark on the spines) I bought all my cold steel knives because of your KRV'S

Nice but I would prefer a XL version of this model. Removable thumb stud is for people like me who are not allowed to carry a folding knife with locking blade if you could open it with one hand. Believe it or not. That is the law in Germany. So removing it making it legal to carry.

Awesome knife video. I have not purchased anything new from Cold steel and new ownership. Ive seen many of the new products seem and feel very cheap. I do buy old new stock or excellent condition used on ebay. I bet Lynn made a killin on that sale. Now Gsm is literally sticking it to use. Geesh look at the luzon noway pass.

I was able to get a broken skull in s35 last year.....awesome I just can't bring myself to downgrade to garbage steel 4034......even 8cr or aus 8 would have been a good bargain knife.....not paying good money for pot metal I have the original,lonestar hunter in aus 8 and it's good as well Thinking about getting the sk5 version with the leather pouch.....name eludes me

COLD STEEL is still a decent company but their warranty sucks. I need a new pocket clip for my counter point 1. Their website says they will send replacement clips but I have talked to the same guy 2 times. Over a year apart and he says he wouldn't know where to find a pocket clip and that they do not warranty them. Even though their web site says they do!! I asked if he knew of any aftermarket clips that fit he said no "AND IF I DID I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU THAT INFORMATION". Now that I check the web site they have changed the warranty probably because I told them to change it if they were not going to honor the warranty ha ha. I guess I'll start looking for USA MADE KNIVES
