Think I'm going to get one these shovels. Zachary Fowler who won one the Alone seasons (87 days I think) took one (with multi-tool/axe/saw) and he used it for everything. Though he took an axe he hardly used it. TBH Rob. Your "s**t, shovel feathersticks" were better then 2 KZbin guys I can think of 😉

Good old Fowler! I did have one long before he went on Alone, now that Roland did 100 days Fowler has stopped mentioning it so often 🤣🤣 still one hell of an achievement.

@@RobEvansWoodsman What were Roland's tools, Rob? [What would these 4 be like? CS SF shovel, CS Trail Master, Victorinox Hercules, Silky Bigboy? Under normal circumstances I'd add a "bushcraft" knife.] Cheers.

I think the Esee steel cum bearing block is an outrageous price for what it is. Forty quid!? Something I've come up with that works pretty well is to use a dome-headed upholstery nail tapped into the top end of the spindle/drill. All you need then is a bit of wood with a dent/depression in it to make the bearing pair. These nails are pretty cheap and a few don't take up much room or weigh much in the pouch. I'll give you some when next we meet. Good video, though, Rob.

Hey Rob, I forgot to ask you what angle do you use for sharpening your Recon Scout? Cheers!

That's a difficult one, I've always maintained the original bevel which is quite fine , I'm surprised that it doesn't chip.

Random thought and something I have never seen on any bushcraft channel, have you dug a latrine at your permanent camp?
