It's a beast. I have the same one in San Mai III layered steel. It's unreal and tough. I highly recommend it. I carry an hatchet for splitting wood and only use cheap knives for that task. Great grip that will not slip when wet. Care for it right and it can be passed down to your kids.

That's a beautiful knife. If I was a soldier that would be my choice for the price and purpose. Nothing I have a use for personally But that's not the only reason to by a knife. :) Thanks for sharing

I keep one of these under my pillow, it's my sense of security and is next to a 9mm and a flashlight.. I did this because that swedge is sharp as hell and I don't think it's much of a woods knife. This is a weapon plain and simple. You could cut off a person limbs with this knife or spill their guts into the floor..

The Trailmaster is definitely a good all around purpose knife. If it`s for the woods or defense. But if you want an awesome pillow knife, get the Natchez Bowie. I have it and I tell ya, this thing is huge. Dwarfs even the Trailmaster. And it`s main purpose, probably it`s only one, is defense.

Cold Steel has some of the best knives for the price and many very well designed blades for wood chopping, camping and soldiers and that one is good for all of them ,I have a Mtech 151 copy and it's like a trainer for the real one. You should check out the Mtech MT-151 full tang reviews Cliff Stamp has a very informative one. But nothing is really like the real thing , especially 01 steel and SK-5 or San Mai lll

Say Heah Cedric, I have a 1990 Trail Master, Mine is in the San Mai 3 version, I didn't know what I was buying and the seller going out of business didn't know what he was selling, I bought it for around $150.00. Anyhow I have a video of Lynn Thompson claiming its the strongest knife in the world back then both commercial made or custom, Also the line of demarcation is alot lower and the ricaso is different than the new ones. Cheers.

paulie 4x oh yeah, the laminate steels are really strong. The San Mai has changed cores a few times, from Aus8, to Carbon V, to VG1. Those nice softn420J slabs on each side really help with stress.

Yeah, Back then, I have a video of Lynn Thompson making that claim, There's a destruction video of a Fallkniven A-1 being destroyed and tested and it impressed me for its strength, I bought one a while ago from a KZbin, The knife looked brand new, The nylon belt loop was torn, So I contacted Fallkniven and they sent me a brand new sheet for free, Outstanding Company.
