Looking at a 70 piece collection since April from knives like this to striders and Rike, We , BM , spyderco , Etc. All thanks to these reviews I was able to pick up a lot of knives up to 50% discounted but some 5 years old but they were still brand new . I found a lot at the smaller shops . Thanks for advising along the journey with the tips in the vids . It’s been a real fun hobby and getting into mods and learning how to really fine tune the knives to get the best action out of them is also fun sometimes . I think everyone should know how to tune a knife and how the pivot is used to adjust centering and action , lockbars , liners , etc . The whole hobby is very interesting.

4 years old, don’t care. I’ve watched quite a few videos of you praising this little guy so searched for an actual full on review. I agree with you on the clip position but disagree that D2 would have been a better choice. Yes, Aus 8 is kinda crap steel by todays standards but as a workhorse knife Aus 8 is far tougher than D2 and it’s actually stainless. I’ll trade edge retention for corrosion resistance and toughness on a hard use beater any day of the week. Thanks for turning me on to this knife and the great review. Putting in an order for one shortly. Your vids are always solid. Rock Chalk!

Yeah a super high edge retention steel would be ideal since this could be used so much over and over on boxes and other packaging.

I just got a tuff lite today as a gift and as far as I can tell it feels and looks amazing!! It’s probably one of the best budget knives out there and a great backup knife for your EDC. The way it feels in hand is pretty next level for $30

I just received my second one. I had bought one before because I needed a knife that wasn’t too expensive but could cut through salt bags. Yeah it rusted like crazy but the edge itself held up great after cutting a little over a thousand bags of salt. (This includes any moisture I had come in contact with) no chips or anything along the edge! Only reason I bought another one was because I lost it lol but worth every penny imo

Just snatched-up one of the last non-serrated Mini Tufflites available. Unfortunately it's pink but I'll take it.

I worked as a flooring installer on a US Army base for a good while, and i can say without a doubt that there is no pocket knife in existence that I could have used to do my job. I'm talking about cutting hundreds of feet of carpet, carpet padding, vinyl flooring, baseboards, boxes, materials packaging, you name it. I would wear out 4 or 5 quad-sided high quality razor blades in a single install, easily, and we were doing 2 or 3 installs a day. What do I carry now that I work in an office? A god damn pocket knife.

Not to mention ripping out old flooring, my mind blacked that part out for a minute. The humanity... lmao

Just ordered a blue handle Tuff Lite for $23. Excited to get it in hand and see about pro's & con's of carry & use. Thinking I'll take clip off and add a small lanyard?? I'll see soon. I've been EDC Spyderco yojimbo 2 for a while, mostly for personal protection when I can't be strapped. I love it and find wharncliffe shape very useful for utility.. but, even though it's CPMs30v I'm hesitant to really hard use it and damage the thin edge beyond repair. This I won't hesitate to use hard. QUESTION: anyone use this in an outdoor setting woodworking ❓and how does the thinner edge hold up cutting wood❓ I understand blade shapes and grinds etc.. just wondering if anyone has experience

Sooo... have you liked it so far? I have started to bring it as sorta first response cutting tool for camping/backpacking. Kinda replacing bigger puukko. It lives in my front pocket when im in the forest. Found it to be great and light knife to bring especially if i have axe with me. It aint the greatest for whittling those long, curly firestick hairs, but it gets the job done. It is as its best at campsite foodprep and cutting ropes/packages. Very good tip for drilling holes and carving. I wouldnt baton with it, but the handle really lets you apply pressure and splitting branches is easy. Very capable folder and i use it every day. For pure woodworking id get a mora, but it surely you can do a lot with this. The grind is made for cutting boxes or something so just dont go prying out nails or batoning it and your all good.

That little knife you could hang 180 pounds off it seen it in a cold steel video, they stopped at 180 could’ve gone further which is pretty impressive for a knife that weighs one and a half ounces

Personal life use whatever you want, but for your job, make sure you are allowed to use something other than the osha or company approved cutting tool before using a pocket knife on the job. I worked nights at several different retail stores, and using anything outside of the osha approved “safety” box cutters was forbidden. Not worth losing your job just to show off cool knives to coworkers lol.

How would you say it compares to the original CRKT Pilar? I suspect that it's tougher - but in overall light to medium use for the office jockey/weekend warrior?
@metal_complex5 жыл бұрын
I like the Pilar a lot, but I honestly enjoy the Tuff Lite a lot more. It feels more substantial and more purpose built in hand. The lock on the Pilar is fine, but I think the Triad lock is more reliable, especially in this size / price range of knife. However, for light - medium use, I don't know that you'll see a difference between the two. Depends on how you define "medium".
@gallowaystx5 жыл бұрын
@@metal_complex Yeah i agree on all those points. I will say that the Pilar is a little "dressier" if that's a thing. I'll likely get both because ,you know... Also Pilar is my daughter's name - how is that for justification?
@metal_complex5 жыл бұрын
Haha getting both is ALWAYS the right choice 😉

This and my hogue ritter are my most carried. I kinda wanna see if i can install bronze washers in it. In Shabazzs disassembly, you can see there are washer like shapes molded into the handle. Its be interesting to see if you can sand those flat and put in washers of the same dimension, if itd get much smoother. Silly on a 20-30$ knife but could be fun.

Got a Tuff Lite straight edge about 5 years ago and a Pro Lite Tanto 2 years ago. Never needed to spend much thanks to Cold Steel's high build quality given their prices.
@inferno71273 жыл бұрын
Additionally razor blades and box cutters are fairly weak and they break easily whereas the Blade on this cold steel is fixed out and beefy which is not going to break

The knife is very wide at the top of the pocket, it’s a shame as it would be more compelling tip up, due to the shape of the handle. I think it’s a nice tool box knife, but it’s not a generalist EDC knife.

Oh it gets love from eskrimadors its popular due to being small and highly concealable and in the hands of a skilled eskrimadors that small thing can do massive damage plus its cheap you can buy 2 and dual wield it and do even more damage in case of self defense situation
