Most carp in commercials have mouths like that due to heavy overstocking then hauling them out in 200 pound match weights

Great stuff mate, ive had excellent results on the method, but pointless using maggots on my local commercial for carp as the head of roach is huge, ive litrally caught them on 11mm pellets lol.

Thank you for the video, i’ve tried it in my homecountry. Red maggots are forbidden but we did manage to catch some fish on the white ones and on the pellet. Thanks again for the tips!

Why are red maggots banned ? I am sure cut worms or casters would work too

@@sparkfishes it's probably because of the war of 1876 were Sweden was almost invaded and overrun by red maggots they almost lost the war and only just pulled through and ever since red maggots have been illegal there

@@sparkfishes I know this is a really old comment, but he may live in Holland. I believe they've banned them because the dye causes other issues and is poisonous.

@@whiskyeetcarcinogenic yes, I would recommend to not use them even if they are legal, causes blatter cancer in a lot of anglers

Would you cast around for feature finding for this type of fishing or as it’s a ‘match style’ would you just cast to where you think the fish’ll be? Look forward to trying a few of these tips next week
@AnglingDirectTV
@AnglingDirectTV 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, a lot of the time (on these types of waters) you don't always have the room to feature find (same in a match fishing situation) so we'd probably just cast around our peg with the method and try to find where the fish are. Also alot of the time on these match/commercial venues the bottom is quite 'feature less'.

What do you do when the fish are feeding in the upper layers in the warmer weather and you want to use the method ?? Change method to a pellet waggler or will the method pin the fish down?
@AnglingDirectTV
@AnglingDirectTV 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, if the fish were feeding in the upper layers we probably wouldn't use the method, we'd use something to catch them up in the water, like the pellet waggler you mentioned.

Hello Stephen. I don't know what oz tip you are using in the video but I can guarantee that your tungsten stops will be up in the water with any type of bend in your rod. I fish a totally slack line summer and winter and even with the fish running towards you my tip still goes around 👍

It’s because it’s a runs water so people use carp gear but there are many small fish
@archiewoodyard3228
@archiewoodyard3228 5 жыл бұрын
the mouth on that fish is because people like you use tiny hooks which don't get a good hook hold so it damages thee mouth so use a bigger hook like a size 10 so no fish is damaged. my local lake is a match lake full of carp ,carp angler like myself don't want to be seeing damaged carp on the bank but sadly 7/10 fish have mouths like that because of fishing like that with small hooks
@gingervirus2988

Archie Woodyard - I agree, recent experience has shown, particularly with using even 6mm pellets / wafter etc., that scaling hook size down in winter doesn’t seem to significantly reduce number of bites but does result in more lost fish; smallest I’ll use is a wide-gape 12 which is more like a 10
@AnglingDirectTV
@AnglingDirectTV 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Archie, small hooks on balanced tackle are absolutely fine. If anything big barbless hooks, braid and heavy rods are what cause 90% of mouth damage. A big barbless hook will move a lot more in the mouth than a small hook.

Its all about education I see so many anglers young and old when carp fishing strike with so much force when the buzzer goes if its a wonder the fish has any mouth at all also I’ve never had any issues with smaller hook and don’t feel the average match angler causes the mouth damage carp anglers because they treat every carp as a 30 lb fish with big hooks braid and 3 lb test curve rods
