New to feeder fishing. Long time carp angler. Enjoyed this, and more importantly, I learned something new. Thank you for sharing.

I’m just rekindling my fishing life and omg how things have changed in 30yrs. In my day fishing was all about you and your method against the fish. What I’ve just heard and seen on other vids is that method feeder fishing is no longer fishing. What I mean is you plonk the bait in and the fish hooks itself and you reel it in. It’s no longer fishing where u hunt the species but rather put more emphasis on bait preparation and sit back n wait. I ask myself is this truly fishing within the meaning of fishing.
@gbwildlifeuk82693 ай бұрын
When you say its no longer fishing where you hunt the fish, sounds more like fly fishing or certainly river fishing. On rivers the fish can go the length of the river! On commercials the fish are confined and therefore technically, they're already caught! All you have to do is entice them onto your hook. If you feel method fishing is a bit of a "cheat" then dont fish method! Try float or whatever you used 30 years ago and if commercials arent for you then its rivers, were you can then float, ledger, method, trot or fly! Is any of that "real" fishing? If not, what did you do 30 years ago?
@brianmarkie4667Ай бұрын
@@gbwildlifeuk8269 Hi, and thanks for your informative reply. Yes, I agree that in commercial fishing, the fish are already caught per sè, and the game's name is bait prep. If you feel offended by my appraisal, that wasn't my intention. 30yrs ago and more, the point was for you to fish the water you and your club were associated with, for example, a canal. you would never know for certain if you would catch or not unless you used a small number of precise methods for the water, and if you didn't, then knowledge and experience would come into play to bring the effect of having a successful day. Now, in contrast, on my 1st day on a commercial fishery with just some basic tackle, I went home having caught over 80lb of fish and that, for a summer, was a poorish day by all accounts. So my point in comparison to yesteryear and today is that I no longer need to think of a strategy, just what colour bait I fancy using.

Amazing! Two batches of pellets. Makes perfect sense, but something I had never considered. I will definitely try this. Also heavy bait to start, then light bait if things get difficult. Also I love the beginning, whereby you mention the positioning of the hook. A 3 inch hook length, is something else I will try, as I have always used 4 inches.

Such a usefull video, especially for a total begginer in method, im used to fishing bream with heavy cage feeder on big heavy stream rivers casting up to 50 -70m so a method in still watter is just so different for me. Learned a lot really.
@alanoliver53783 жыл бұрын
Another quick one, if you wa t a fast break down try a small handful of crushed hemp mixed with the pellets, carp only, it tends to be so active it put bream and roach off, litteraly fizzes off the feeder.

Really enjoyed watching this, great information. The only thing I'm worried about staying clipped up on venues is some of the fish are double figures and I'm worried about it cracked off as the fish can't pull line
@alanoliver53783 жыл бұрын
Hiya mate, if you fish to an island, in most cases the fish can't go away from you, you have every chance of taming a double if it happens a long, don't get me wrong it can all go tits up, but that's fishing mate, best wishes and tight lines.
@alanoliver53783 жыл бұрын
P. S, if you're too worried about clipping up, if its only a short cast simler to Jamie's, instead of clipping up, wrap an elastic band around the spool, so you go through the clip up routine, stop the line with the finger, but wrap an elastic band around the spool instead of clipping up, you can make this quite tight, by doubling the elastic, I use this on a venue I frequently fish open water with a method feeder 10 meters past the pole line on windy days, in stead of bomb and pellet.
@alanoliver53783 жыл бұрын
Pps, as Jamie said in the out set, if you're fishing for a bigger stamp of fish, beef things up rod wise, the fish pulls the tip round, rod round you grab it and hold on for dear life till it turns towards you 😂 proper sqeeky bum stuff 😉

At the top level it is very technical! But the great thing about fishing is that it can be as simple as you want it to be! 😃
@newyoupersonaldevelopment34973 жыл бұрын
Can I ask, do you make the hole in the top feeder rubber cap larger so the knot of your leader can run through should you get snapped off. I wanted to do some pre made up feeder rigs (as the beads are fiddly to thread on the bank) but was concerned the loops to attach to the reel line would stop the feeder being considered free running. A reply to this would be greatlyappreachiated. 👍

so how come Jamie you have not won every match you've fished as you are so dedicated to detail is beyond me . WELL DONE
@mrdjr65443 жыл бұрын
As a non match angler, seems to me that success lies in the small details, get lots and lots of small details right and the success will happen. Just like everything else really. But it's identifying and adapting those small details where people like Jamie excel.

I notice that just behind you there is a growth of Pampas grass 6 minute mark plus....apparently, in the 70's and 80's the household who had them in the front garden was into a bit of wifeswapping... I'm wondering, if you have to book that peg in advance. Asking for a friend. Great instruction. And the shock leader...that was interesting, I'd never of thought of that....although I always use them on rivers. Also the thinking that you must do....along with other guys who do these vids with other companies...you must come away with a headache...it's intense shit!

isn't it if the hook points downwards, when the fish suck the lot in it's easier to get hooked on the bottom lip?

British club fishing approach has misshaped european fishing tackle market. There are many redundant methods that apply only for fishing in shallow and narrow canal shaped commercial fisheries. Most fishing is around the world still is wild, random and on the move.

Can I ask a quick question, back in the mid 90s I was fishing Woodlands in carlton miniot Thirsk, UP NORTH, I was fishing traditional down the edge and upto the island, a bloke 2 pegs down using 2 rods caught fish all day I had to help him twice as he had fish on both rods, my day was OK fish wise but he's was fn cahotic he was fishing method feeder, first time I'd seen it to be honest, but here's the strange question, after the day he took me to he's car and showed me what he was using, in a nut shell it was left over Sunday dinner liquidised put in a plastic bag and left to go off, it smelt really sour, now I witnessed this with my own eyes, but to this day never tried it, usually cos there is no dinner left in my house 😂 has anyone else tried this or know of anyone trying it,?
@alanoliver53783 жыл бұрын
Ps that was he's method mix, maggots and worm on the hook, believe me I haven't seen such hectic fishing.
@alanoliver53783 жыл бұрын
Pps having said that you could catch 200lb at Woodlands hemp over prawn on the hook back then, you struggle to get a bite on the same method now, so times change, just curious about the sour mash.

Don't you use the original feeders with the mould anymore
