I would have said the tigerfish you shot at 47:25 got the kill on the Kirov... the marker on the map for the torp that got the kill (at 51:48) was white, which iirc should mean a friendly, unwired torpedo.

Finally it’s back!!!! This is one of my all time favourite series on KZbin, the quality and effort you put into your intros sets it apart from other series and I really like it for that reason. It adds a new layer of narrative to a let’s play, you’ve created the story of legendary submariner Ed Cooke. I really hope the algorithm blesses you again and makes these videos more worthwhile.

Well that was one of the most tense hours of my life, bloody hell. SPOILERS: In Jan 1985 there were only 2 Kirovs in service, so you just sunk fully half of the Soviet Kirov fleet!

Love to see the series return! The intros are so good and you did very well even if I was also very scared, not of the torpedos (though they were coming very fast in great numbers) but that you were going to crash into the floor and the end of this series would be Cooke trying to fight the sea floor and losing. Very tense, very thrilling, excited that your next orders are "rearm and repair" and not "hey while you're out and only have 4 torpedos would you mind defending this incredibly important base? We'll be very cross if you don't, thanks."

You can see the moment the second torp hits the Kirov at 51:51, bottom right above the noisemaker panel. I think it was the last TF you launched at 47:25, before the whole evasion panic started happening.

This was one of the better game plays. Fun! Awesome time when you sank the SS Kirov. I'm assuming the game doesn't have like an instant replay feature so you can check where that other hole came from. Maybe the engine blew up from inside. This was definitely a nail biter. Also, wonder if it threw the Russians off when you torpedoed the ocean bottom. Personally, I would have headed for the SS Kresta when you torpedoed it. It looked like the SS Kirov turned back to offer assistance to the damaged ship. Pity you didn't go hang out with the whale. 😆 Forgot to mention, I try to use sinking ships as decoys. Similar to how you came close to the sinking Kirov. Nothing beats all that noise coming from a sinking ship use it to hide your sonar signature.

You were too deep in the mission - if you get too close to the seabed, you get "bottom bounce" where the seabed amplifies the effect of active sonar. That's probably why they kept getting your location - however, all they got was a "ping" - there was something there but the Soviets didn't know for sure what it was.
