I have a personal theory about that phenomenon: When you are young you create very powerful emotional long term memories. And the music you liked back then gets associated with those memories. I think music is a DIRECT highway into your emotions and memories. That's why old people with alzheimers disease kan be made to smile as the recognise old music from their personal past. It seems to bypass any cognitive faculties but taps STRAIGHT into the emotions. Disclaimer: i'm not a scientist nor psychiatrist.

Lyrics The lights go out and I can't be saved Tides that I tried to swim against Have brought me down upon my knees Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing Come out of the things unsaid Shoot an apple off my head and a Trouble that can't be named A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing You are, you are Confusion that never stops The closing walls and the ticking clocks gonna Come back and take you home I could not stop, that you now know, singing Come out upon my seas Cursed missed opportunities am I A part of the cure Or am I part of the disease, singing You are, you are You are, you are You are, you are And nothing else compares And nothing else compares And nothing else compares You are, you are Home, home, where I wanted to go Home, home, where I wanted to go Home, home, where I wanted to go (You are) Home, home, where I wanted to go (You are) Written by Guy Rupert Berryman, Jonathan Mark Buckland, William Champion, Christopher Anthony John Martin • Copyright © Universal Music Publishing Group

Love his voice. Confusing song. Maybe it means we are running out of time. I definitely know that each day i am running out of time to live. Age is progressing faster each day. I will live the remaining years of my life to the best of my ability. Hopefully, stress free and mellow. I hope my future home will be heaven.

September 11th/2015 the date in which the best person I've ever met passed away, We were friends for 7 - 8 years approximately. I was with him that day but left shortly before things happened so I couldn't be there to help him. Later that day when I was on my way back home, I was waiting the bus with my headphones on and listening some music when suddenly I heard "Viejo" (the nickname he gave me and only he called me that way [it means Old in spanish]) looked around and no one was talking to me so I thought it was weird but irrelevant, I obviously was unaware about my friend's situation but only the next day I understood that it was my friend saying goodbye to me when I was informed that he died by a Cardiopulmonary Arrest by the time I was on the bus stop. He was 21 as long as me and he is the first person I lose in my life. His musical taste was exigent and Clocks by Coldplay was one of the songs he could play on piano. He really liked Clocks and now I will always remember him with this song.

Many music critics praised and continue to praise the song, saying it’s one of the best songs of the 2000’s and sometimes of all time. In 2010, Rolling Stone placed it at number 490 in the 500 greatest songs :)

My father died on February 20, 2004 and when I left early from work, this song literally followed me every step of the way back to my house, to the airport the next morning (I was supposed to visit him the next day anyway), until I was "home, home, where I wanted to go." I listen to this and it brings back that time, all the emotion, smells, sounds, sensations and reminds me painfully of how beautiful and wonderful it was to have the dad I had.
