Yet these feelings make us more present, the feeling that everything is fleeting, makes the present thus the more present and the future and past more absent. You are here, now, alive, even with the fleeting feeling of nostalgia clinging on to your soul, you are breathing the very nostalgia you so long, but from a different perspective. Xoxo live hard, live well, love hard, love well, and never ever give up a smile or a tear because of anxiety.

How long before I get in? Before it starts, before I begin? How long before you decide? Before I know what it feels like? Where To, where do I go? If you never try, then you'll never know. How long do I have to climb, Up on the side of this mountain of mine? Look up, I look up at night, Planets are moving at the speed of light. Climb up, up in the trees, every chance that you get, is a chance you seize. How long am I gonna stand, with my head stuck under the sand? I'll start before I can stop, before I see things the right way up. All that noise, and all that sound, All those places I got found. And birds go flying at the speed of sound, to show you how it all began. Birds came flying from the underground, if you could see it then you'd understand? Ideas that you'll never find, All the inventors could never design. The buildings that you put up, Japan and China all lit up. The sign that I couldn't read, or a light that I couldn't see, some things you have to believe, but others are puzzles, puzzling me. All that noise, and all that sound, All those places I got found. And birds go flying at the speed of sound, to show you how it all began. Birds came flying from the underground, if you could see it then you'd understand, ah when you see it then you'll understand? All those signs, I knew what they meant. Some things you can invent. Some get made, and some get sent, Ooh? Birds go flying at the speed of sound, to show you how it all began. Birds came flying from the underground, if you could see it then you'd understand, ah, when you see it then you'll understand?

Not too many bands can blur sonic melancholia and the uplifting all into one song…First time I heard it when it was released in mid-2005, over the cable radio station (remember those?) at our advertising agency in the studio bullpen, I knew it was an instant classic. Perfectly matched my mood at the time, for a whole host of reasons, and has stuck with me ever since. ❤

There has been 4 ice ages before our coming ice age. I really believe there will be another coming of the golden age of music that we went through :) Maybe not them in particular, but the next kids will show us. But then again, we might be then too old and mature to enjoy the simple things those songs meant to us when we were growing up.

I feel that the song's lyrics basically give meaning to life's unanswered questions. Like a realization of some sort. The lyrics tell the story a person who just spent his entire life trying to find an answer, but accepts he will never find it and realizes that never finding the answer is in fact the true and realistic answer. I especially love it when it says, "Some things you can invent. Some get made and some get sent." Meaning there are some questions or things in life that can be answered, but some you just have to accept never finding the answer and live on which is reality. Anyways thx for reading. I just really wanted to get out what I felt was the meaning of this song.

@ShoTgUn8511126 жыл бұрын
I think this album ended their first stage as a band (Parachutes, AROBTTH and X&Y). Gradually growing from a small-sounding indie band into a somewhat cosmic-sounding rock band. There have been few songs which I've enjoyed after this but for me, the band have never been the same since. Love this album.
@FabulousKilljoy5 жыл бұрын
It's my favorite. Like Fall Out Boy's Folie A Deux and Panic! At the Disco's Vices and Virtues, X&Ywas the most underrated and best of the classics. Then they all started drifting away (FOB completely sold out after they came back from their hiatus, but you get me). Coldplay isn't that bad, and Panic! is just mediocre pop now, but FOB completely undermining their legacy

I've always thought of this song as "Clocks" part 2. Both songs equally epic in melancholic perfection. When this song first came out and I heard it, it was like hearing a reincarnation of Clocks. The two songs definitely have their differences, but for me, this will always be some sort of spiritual successor to Clocks. I do probably prefer Clocks, though, only by a little bit. Clocks was WAY ahead of it's time musically when it came out in 2002, which is something I think people tend to forget.

I think we take for granted the impact we can have on the lives of others, you can change someone's time with just a few words or a simple action, you can change someone's feelings in an instant. For those who read this, impact the lives of others and be kind, the smallest things can take you far.
