J Hope is joining the Korean Military Soon, it's Mandatory for Koreans, so this was his goodbye Git for Fans. He used to dance to J Cole's Songs when he was still a Street Dancer, and after a listen to Friday Night Lights, he started writing songs and making his own Beats. He even named his first Mix Tape Hope-World after Cole-World. That's also the reason he gave Jermaine so many bars in his Song, he did out of respect. Recommend Checking out his Album Jack in the Box, it's a Hip Hop Album with lots of 90s Style Beats and crazy lyrics. Songs that i recommend, Arson, More, Stop, What if (he sampled ODB on that one), Airplane and Daydream. BTS has 3 Rappers, 2 of them used to be underground, J Hope was a Street Dancer. 70 year old BTS Army here. The beat, melody composition and whistle comes from J-hope and their label's in house talent. He is a member of BTS where all 7 members are successful songwriters and composers and most of them are producers. their talent well is as deep as it gets and that is why they are the number 1 group in the world. J-hope started dancing at the age of ten and was a street dancer before he became part of BTS which is made up of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. j-hope is the main/lead dancer, rapper, singer & music producer from the group BTS. J.Cole is jhope's biggest influence/inspiration and muse. Jhope's mixtape "HOPE WORLD" is a play on J.Cole's first album "COLE WORLD." The BTS song "Born Singer" is also a play on J.Coles song "Born Sinner." The avirex fit j-hope is wearing is also homage to J.cole. The street jhope was on at the beginning is the same exact street J.Cole filmed his "SIMBA" music video on. And jhope dancing during Cole's verse is because j-hope before BTS used to dance to J.Cole songs back in the day. The is like a visual homage paid to J.Cole by j-hope to show his genuine love for THE GOAT like J.Cole. When it comes to BTS and the 7 members of BTS as soloists you really need to forget all preconceived notions about boy bands and kpop in general. They do all genres and have been a group for almost 10 years with over 300 songs covering various genres and subject matter. Instead of looking at them as a kpop boy band band look at them 7 global artists who happen to be a group too.

really respect Jhope for taking a backseat on the song and letting the legend and his idol take centre stage even though it's technically his song (he came up with the melody and everything), and I really respect artists like JCole for keeping an open mind towards a member of BTS since people often dismiss them without even listening to their music simply because of labels like "boyband" or "kpop"

This is the last song Jhope is putting out before he goes to serve his military service. In South Korea it's mandatory for ALL males to serve 1- 2 years in the military. All the members of BTS are planning on serving and coming back by 2025. So for now they're just working on solo stuff before enlistment. Jcole and street dancing has been some of the roots for Jhope and his career as a member of BTS and a solo artist/producer. He grew up with hip-hop. It's been many years since he first started so before he takes a long break he decided to go back to his roots. Also to show how much he respects Jcole he gave him the longest verse on the song. Also if you plan on checking out more jhope he has two mixtapes Hope World(homage to Cole World) and Jack in the box. Two completely different vibes and if you check out more BTS there's two more rappers and four singers. RM and Suga both with two mixtapes of their own and have had western hip-hop collabs like Wale, juice wrld, Anderson Paak, Erykah Badu, etc...

I mean, a lot of kpop is EDM or pop. But BTS started as a hip hop group and was built around its 3 rappers--two from the underground rap world, and one a national champion in hip hop dance. They've been rapping for 12-15 years and are masters of their craft. They write all their own bars (which is incredibly rare in the k-idol industry) and they all have honed such distinct styles. j-hope is my favorite rapper in the group (but they are all equally talented--it's really just a matter of taste). I like j-hope for his versatility and his concept building in his lyricism. He plays a long game with his bars and always comes on to a track sideways. Like you just never know what you're going to get. And he's a sub-vocalist in the group and the Dance and Performance Leader so he has a lot of other skills that he folds into his rap. He uses melody a lot and his musicality and flow and delivery is always next level. j-hope has made no secret of his love of J. Cole. He first said the words "Hope World" in their 2013 album "O!RUL8,2?" in their song "If I Ruled the World" and later explicitly rapped "Hope Hope World, before I made my own world, Cole World." His studio is named Hope World now, as is the name of his first full mixtape (which is an incredible fusion of old school west coast hip hop and elements of funk, dance, and pop.) His latest project is Jack In The Box which is east coast, boom-bap meets grunge. He even samples ODB's Shimmy Shimmy Ya on the album. Anyway, BTS has their bona fides when it comes to rap. The rappers and the group have worked with Juice Wlrd (twice), Wale, Warren G, Lil Nas X, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Snoop Dogg and now THEE Jermaine Cole. I'm from the US too and I had all these misconceptions about what BTS were because of what I'd seen of kpop. But BTS are different. They are artists at their core and their talent and sincerity for their music as well as their god tier performance ability has earned them the right to be named among music legends. I hope you'll think about digging into them a little!

Jhope gave more part to Jcole, even it's his song, to show his respect to him(my assumption), bc jcole was one of the biggest inspiration when jhope was young. What a great collaboration! Ahaha welcome to bts ! I forget people might not realise they rap at all. As a fan, some context ! - jhope is 1/3 of rap line in bts, and the main dancer (SICK freestyler, see his vlives!) Each has their own flavour, jhope has a distinctive fun flow and some rock grunge elements in his latest album. I’d recommend Arson for an intro to jhope, especially because it parallels Cole’s lyrics in this a bit ! And UGH and Deang for the bts rap line, but alongside the dkdtv explanation videos to understand the word play and nuances in the Korean :) Lastly, this song is a tribute !
