My, how times have changed. If this was the 1970s, the score between Redondo and Banning would have been flipped. Banning was the premiere super team of the LA City Section and Redondo was a doormat in the Southern Section's Ocean League. I guess Redondo must be recruiting beyond its borders. Cole Leinart, I thought, had transferred from Mater Dei to one of the Costa Mesa schools, but now he's playing for the Redondo Union Seahawks and doing well. I wish him well.

Serra, Bosco, and all the private schools including the Trinity League schools happened. They take turns poaching the best recruits from LA

@JasonLee-kv9by The CIF opened up its eligibility rules allowing schools, both public and private recruit athletes from anywhere. BTW, the Trinity league now includes Orange Lutheran. It's a private school like the others, but it's non-Catholic.

He started at Mater Dei. Realized he wasn't gonna play. Transferred to Newport Harbor I believe. There so he transferred to his third school and found a level low enough that he could be a big fish and a small pond.

Let's not talk about Texas. Texas high school football talent level is no match for California. California produces the best high school football players in the nation.
