@@richiejohnson There is no doubt that this Polish youth orchestra you recommend is first-rate, but how can you compare them to the very best of Britain’s highly-paid professional session musicians and free lance orchestral players? E.g., compare the trumpet entrance of the Polish orchestra at c. 02:25 to the attack of Wilson’s fearless brass players. Most orchestras today play accurately and in tune, but few play with the verve and absolute confidence of Wilson’s ensemble. I am not being hyperbolic. This is music-making as it meant to be. I'm glad you like this great orchestra under its immensely versatile founder / conductor. Look out too for the uploads here that feature two superb actors who are equally fabulous singers for John Wilson; namely Jamie Parker, lately having the starring role in 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child', as well as being one of 'The History Boys'; and Julian Ovenden, among whose TV credits have been Michael Kitchen's son in 'Foyle's War' and one of Lady Mary's suitors in 'Downton Abbey'. Neither are to be missed for their absolutely wonderful singing voices!

What an assemble! Precision and verve, rarely found in any symphonic group, including the greatest European orchestras, and exactly the right attack for these lush but jazzy MGM style orchestrations. You feel the players love what they’re doing and are proud of their technique, and so they should be.

This is-first- the Main Title music with the incomplete Overture following. The Overture in 'High Society' is a medley in this order: I Love You, Samantha; Little One; True Love and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The Main Title opens with a Fanfare; You're Sensational and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire- which then introduces the Prelude 'High Society Calyspo' with a vocal by Louis Armstrong. The John Wilson Orchestra does a beautiful job here, however, it's a mashup of the actual Overture and Main Title.

For "mashup" read "arrangement," as per the credit which appears on the video screen above shortly after the start, the arrangers being Conrad Salinger and Lloyd 'Skip' Martin. A terrific job indeed, as are all the John Wilson performances that I've also uploaded here. These include the Overtures to "The King and I," "Oklahoma," "Funny Face," his own "Hooray for Hollywood" Overture and much else besides, including some wonderful vocal performances sung by Jamie Parker, Julian Ovenden, Sierra Boggess and others. You must be kidding! Is there anyone in the world who has not heard of Gershwin, Berlin, Porter, Kern or Rodgers? Justly famous and all justly rich in their own lifetime. But who ever heard of Skip Wilson or Conrad Salinger, geniuses in my estimation who placed a jazz band into a full symphonic orchestra and made a sound no one had ever heard before.

John Wilson is only doing a remaster of the original Overture actually used in the movie. The reason what a swell party this is isn’t in it is because it was added in once they had finished filming and making the movie because they realised they hadn’t put Sinatra and Crosby in a song together for the whole movie!
