Hello! Today we're taking a look at the DW 6000UL Ultralight cymbal stand. I've got a couple comments about the rest of the hardware but we're focusing on the regular straight cymbal stand in this one. Does it hold up? Can you use heavier cymbals? Can you play rock with it? Watch to find out! (but yes, yes you can) 20% off ALL Soundbrenner Products (Minuendo, Pulse, etc)

Hi, I own a set of these : 3 straight cymbal stands, 1 snare stand and the hit stand with the bag. I had to get one more stand because the set originally offers only two cymbal stands. With the bag the total weight is under 10 kilos... And they hold up all my cymbals : Paiste 602 Modern Essentials 18 and 20 crashes, 22 ride and 15 hihat... and it works very well... Thanks for sharing your impressions.

Félix Weber I used to have the Dw ul, now I have the Yamaha crosstown. They are so much better! Sell your Dw per 150 for the set on Craigslist and buy 2 sets of the crosstown. That’s what I did and I’m very much happier with the stability and versatility of the tube size for clamps and inserts. Same 17 lbs. for the set😉✌️✌️👍

@@paulysci925 Agreed. If you need lightweight hardware I think the Yamaha Crosstown is superior to anyone else.

I have the flat stands, the boom stands and they a back saver. I doubt the snare stand would do the job, but I bought one and it's firm and solid. Do your back a favour and buy this hardware.

I owned the hihat stand and used it for a few years. Held up well and was stable enuf for me. The only thing is I play a lot of jazz ballads where I like to splash my hats using the pedal with a light flick. Well, you can do it but it just didn't feel good. Use DW 3500 3 leg now and like it. Am going to get a set of Yamaha Crosstown. I think my search for light stand will be over after that but I'm keeping my DW 3500 just in case. I agree the DW 6000 cymbal stands are great tho. Had a chance to use them on a few occasions. No issues.

I got to try them once. The cymbal stands worked well enough, although the tilters didn't seem very robust. I think the tilter of the original Canopus flat base stand has teeth; if so, I'd rather go with that (for the sake of strength at a very light weight; I normally hate tilters with teeth). It's ~.2 lb. heavier, not enough to matter IMHO. Or, I'd just get something with a toothless tilter and deal with the extra 1+ lb. The hi-hat stand was a little wobby, and you have to be mindful when setting the legs that you unfold them all the way; moreso than the other stands, it gets very wobbly if you don't. I'd probably skip it and go with the lightest hi-hat I could find without a flat base, for the sake of stability (or the Darwin carbon fiber stand if I were made of money). The snare stand was the worst part of the set. Push on the snare a little bit, and the tilter slips. I would never buy it.

I used the Ultralite Hardware at Home for 3 years. I started using them to gig with over 2021, only for the snare stand to snap in half while in transport. It turns out, the U.K. distribution for DW can’t offer a replacement part to fix the snare stand. Needless to say, I’ve sold all of Ultralite hardware, and vented my anger to many. 🤯😰🤣 It was too good to be true. Rather upsetting. 👍🏻

Snapped in half?? Crazy! FWIW I only use the cymbal stands. The snare stand is a little too light for holding heavier drums. Nothing has snapped yet though. 😅

After watching many reviews, the snare stand does look the most breakable. :( no snare stand on the gig would be terrible!

@@matthewd.1474 it was not good. 🤣 Over the Christmas period, I’ve got hold of a full set of 9000 hardware to use for gigs/rehearsals. Is it heavy? Yes. Do I trust it? Yes. Is the weight worth the certainty that I won’t have a problem on a gig? Yes. But I have split the weight across two hardware cases. I mean come on. It weighs so much! 🤣

@@adamwilson1691 Hey Adam. No I haven't. I've moved across to the DW9000 Stuff for everything. Is it heavy > Yes. Is it likely to break > No. I split it across two of the small Protection Racket Hardware Cases with the Wheels. It works a treat. I can't recommend them highly enough. Whether I'll be saying the same thing is 30 years time once I'm all old and grey, perhaps not! Lol!

Do you think they are strong enough to mount a Tom on?

Something light like a 12" with minimal hardware should be fine but I wouldn't do anything beefy. That said, a few other commenters have talked about struggles with the snare stand specifically, so YMMV.
