Will DUCK DECOYS Work For CATFISHING??? (Catch, Clean, Cook!)

Today, we are going to figure out if you can make a functional catfishing rig using duck decoys! We've always wanted to try this and are excited to share our results with you today. My brothers and I used some old decoys we found many years ago. They come with a place to wrap the fishing line. Its really cool to see a couple having such a good time fishing together. I'm so glad my oldest son turned me on to you guys. God bless

My Grandfathers brother, had a place on Lake Poygan in Wisconsin, he ran a trotline for pin money, as he had a neighbor that provided smoked cat to all the local bars and restaurants it was our job to run the line every morning, occasionally we would hook a big sturgeon, and things would get really western, we would also hunt for bullfrogs, and when we got an old fashioned milk can full, we'd sell them to another guy for.10 apiece, that was our bait, tackle, and ice cream money.

That was just great. I think using the duck decoys instead of plastic bottles is an ingenious idea and a game changer. I too have set out jug lines that have come up missing. Not this way.

We need to rig ours up better next time! The only thing I can think of that makes them a little cumbersome is that they are hard to store and take up a good bit of space. Hard to tote 20 duck decoy fishing jugs around as opposed to pool noodles. Thanks for watching!!

Trust Me,, Save about 2 dozen 32oz Gatorade Bottles , Get ya some Glow Sticks To activate and put in the bottles For Some Night Fishin , I number my Bottles so I can keep up with them , I've had my current Set of Bottles probably 2 years , I store em in a draw string net clothes bag when we get ready for another night adventure grab the bag ,bait , and bass Raider Pontoon Boat and it's on,,, lol , Watching those Glow Stick Lighted bottles running or bouncing around on the water is a blast , I have had em go completely outta sight but the Pop up somewhere and you can See it when it does , you'll enjoy ,, Stay Hydrated Out There it's Hot Outside Right now , Keep It Reelin Y'all 🦈🎣👀😁

It is a shame. It's like I've caught many possums in cage traps. Younger possums being usual. This one, maybe 10", very young. Severe claustrophobia, I saw him go in the trap. Then he went ape, bouncing all over the cage. Eventually he just laid out. Heart failure for sure. Few realize humans are animals, but we are, where other animals share our same feelings.

You know, you're right. That region is along the lines of North Louisiana, where a cafe serving fried catfish and frog legs probably would do well. An all you can eat buffet daily lunch and supper. Living on the lake, a huge fenced container, they could store fish live. Have a bad couple of days, no big deal, there's a reserve. If a bad week or month, there's others that'd sell, which is more for that time period, yet, majority of the time, catching their own, dollar cost averaging, it would seem to do well. Not to mention breakfast that caters to the hours of outdoorsmen??? It'd need to be cost effective for outdoorsmen, but ......

That dead cat looks to have come back to life. The dead cat you caught on the decoy was dead and pale, the one you cleaned was breathing and had it natural color. How did that happen?

Not sure, I think the heavy weight caused it to wear itself out with exhaustion and then when I got to it and got it off the line it recovered somehow. It was weird for sure!

Catfish will "drown" if they're left on a line or stringer for a while. I never understood why, but I've seen it happen many times. Maybe they're just not able to circulate enough oxygen sitting in one place, but that's just a guess. As long as he's not stiff, eat him!

I think you’re right about them not being able to cycle water through their gills. We normally run limb lines and that never happens so it was crazy to pull up that almost dead catfish lol

It would like my work as long as we are setting decoys out in a spot with deeper water! Most of the time I chase after ducks in shallow water but that is such a cool concept that I want to explore lol!

I think the super heavy weight had something to do with it. It not being able to circulate water through its gills in the hot shallow water might have done him in.
