You have your front wheel on backwards. The valve stem belongs on the right side (deep dish on the left) in order to center the wheel with the frame. There is an arrow on the stock tire sidewall indicating the direction of wheel rotation.

Quick tip if you do a lot of mudding/ dirt riding I wouldn’t recommend the air box mod !

I am confused by what "tying off the governor" means. Are you using the green wire to hold the governor all the way open? You mention two holes, does the wire go in one, around the governor lever and then back out? Perhaps a simple drawing added to this video of what it should look like inside? I want the modification, and if I can avoid splitting the case that would be great. Thanks for any and all help. Finally, do you prefer this bike to the CT200U? This one looks smaller. Thanks.

all you do is take a zip tie bout 4 inches long and zip tie the spring where it's solid or where the spring want stretch took me like 3 mins and I didn't move the gas tank

Yeah you may be getting a ram air effect but have you changed the main jet to add more fuel to the extra air you are getting? Those engines already run lean as it is. At higher RPM's you are creating quite a lean condition. Even with the stock muffler you should run a 33 jet minimum. And who knows, with a better mixture you may add a couple more MPH. Also, have you blocked the hole in the airbox to verify that the extra speed is due to the hole you put in it? Would be quick and easy with a piece of duct tape.

I'v had the carb apart on one of the BT200 and i notice that the jet has like a one direction jet (it has a slot cut into the top of the head of the jet that allowed the jet to screw in) had anyone else experience this?

I've been doing research on modifying this engine for a while....aaaannnnndddd still cant decide whether to do your governor trick or take the governor out........cant the governor gear or the arm inside break after time ,(if you do higher than normal rpm), if the outer arm is tied down? would that put stress on the governor ? that's because it's running incredible lean. you need to re-jet the carb to a larger jet size.

I've been thinking of doing that with the air box on my X-Pro 196cc Mini Bike but by doing that doesn't a ton of Dirt and Dust get in there every time you ride and clog everything up ? In which case you'd lose power I'd imagine if your air filter gets clogged too easily ? Or maybe I'm wrong i dunno. II only know that in my particular area in North Carolina there is a ton of Dust and that clay dirt that coats everything in it's path with a thick layer so much that you literally have to hose your rides down on a daily basis if you want to keep them clean.

Just spray it with filter air. No matter what it’s gonna get dirty and once you needa replace it but a stage 1 kit. But by spraying it, it should last longer because the spray itself will catch all those little dust particles from entering the engine.

Be careful these bike come from the factory set up to run lean with epa carburetor . When you start modification of the air box and exhaust you need more gas in the mix , so you need to re jet the carburetor. On these they are set from the factory non adjustable, so you have buy a new non epa carb and they are cheap 20 -30 bucks and re jet . So any mods to the air intake or exhaust without rejetting will damage the engine and won't run right. The only mod to do on the stock bike is to remove the throttle stop screw and you may get a little more throttle maybe 5 mph faster that's it . Or go with a stage one kit to get a little more horse power .. Any more than that you start getting into governor removal and billet rods and flywheel and that's a differnt ballgame. If you want a reliable bike to put around with just leave it alone and do the regular maintenance...just beware that when you start modify or hot rod the bike your asking for problems that's the nature of it.. Old guy wisdom here been thru it many times But that's part of the fun..

@@1tommyhill671 No, I have the same bike and I also bent/removed my throttle stop screw. It is perfectly fine for the engine if you remove the throttle stop screw. And it will give you an extra 5mph! Only removing the governor will damage the engine. I don’t recommend removing/disabling governor unless you put in heavier valve springs. I know this reply is a little late, but I hope it still helps you out.

You’re washer idea seemed good but in reality in the forest because of the torque it makes the engine slip sadly my clutch got damage and my chain I will try metal cube shape pieces and see if that works out.

I have one and yes it's definitely heavy. But I got mine up to 45mph. I have a header exhaust with muffler, aluminum intake, Mikuni VM22mm carb with a velocity stack, tach, no rev unlimited coil, new 3x10 gas tank, new sunF tires and smaller metal fenders with a small LED headlight. I do however have a 212 all out race engine I could put on it. Everything forged and titanium inside including roller rockers. But I'm gonna use that for a go kart. But yeah I made plenty of hp from my 196 that's on it now. And 45mph from a 196 and a heavy bike is pretty damn good! And handles way better with those new tires. The stock tires aren't worth a hoot, lol. Makes the bike feel like it's gonna slip out from under you. I have a torque converter coming for it soon too. That will also increase speed and hp. Less drag on take off and climbing up hill. I had a CT200U-EX but I had problems with it and gave it to my neighbor. It was give to me, so I gave it to him. My BT200x I bought new. It's fun to ride 😃👍

Not tryna dog on his mods but I found best that just taking off the whole black cap where the air filter is and screwing that black screw back on works better than a hole and also you can always put the black cap back on if your getting too much power, also this is a hard one so I will try to find a video for yall so no one does it wrong | If you look under your gas tank on the bt200x models or maybe the other ones too you will see a plate thats like silver or bronze and it will have a lot of holes in it, if you move your spring to the very outer hole I got like 6-7+ more mph from those 2 mods. The BT200x is an awesome bike i got mine in april 2020 If you like riding a lot, i recommend installing a hinge and 2 springs under the seat. I did on mine raises the seat 3 inches and really smoothes out the ride.

the tiltson is my next step, i feel like the 212r tiltson would be cheaper in the long run, it has all the high quality rods, flywheels and what not. pretty much all you have to do is all the stage one stuff on go power sports and some 26 pound valve springs and your set. it’s only around 40$ more expensive than the normal tiltson and makes 3 more hp and is governed at 5800 rpms i believe.
