Coleman CT200 U-EX headlamp lightbulb replacement (#19)

This was a great mod for the Coleman. The stock bulb was to dim To see very far at night so instead of a halogen bulb I replaced it with an led bulb. I wanted to keep the original lamp housing so this was a great 👍🏻 option.

Just got my bulbs in the mail yesterday. Took about 5 min to install and no cutting needed it was a perfect fit. Rode for about an hour last night. Much brighter and seems to work perfect so far. Thanks for sharing!! 👍

Looked great while it lasted but mines blew out after a few minutes for some reason... I ordered this same exact bulb off Amazon.Been having the hardest time trying to find a decent light for my Coleman ctu200 ex. I want to keep the original housing because it looks cool! Great video man!👍🏾

I'm looking at adding a capacitor to the circuit or a battery to overcome the bulb burning out to quickly. Just haven't had the time yet. I like my stock housing too! I will try to get to it this season. Nice to know another 200ex Outlaw!

If you wanted to take the flicker away you could check the DC voltage coming out of the charge coil and get a big capacitor about 5000 mfd or more even 10,000 and shunt that across the output DC observing proper polarity and it will compensate for the pulse you could mount it right in headlight assembly. Just a thought 💭

Hey Sammy, Thanks for the comment! I have been looking at doing something like that or adding a battery to the circuit. We just haven't had time to experiment with it yet. There's plenty of room in that assembly too. 😎👍 we blew the seals out on the front forks last race 😫 after we fix those we'll be looking at the headlight circuit again.

Your bike sounds GOOD. Just purchased one 01/29/2022 . I bought it from t.supply it had a price reduction due to mech. Issues. Hopefully I can fix the problems.

Most of the first problems is jack shaft bearing , no grease and chain to tight

Thanks Jacob! Still having issues with Amazon links working. Looking for another source. Your stock bulb should be a 12v 35 watt P15 D . Try cross referencing this bulb and look for a manufacturer that states no ballast or battery required as some led bulbs will not work.

Hey man don’t know if you’ll respond, I put the same bulb in you have, on the same bike. Coleman 200ctu ex. But it just stopped working, I put the old bulb back on and it won’t work either, any ideas

Hey Justin, I found that the filament in my stock bulb was burned out. I ended up getting another one on line and replaced it. Check the numbers on your stock bulb to make sure you get the same replacement Bulb. That should work.

Any heat issues? LEDs are notorious for producing a ton of heat.

Just longevity! They fall apart after rough trail riding. This season I should have some time to add a capacitor / battery to the circuit as I think they would last longer.

T.T., I used a small drum sanding wheel for the dremel tool. Don't use a hole saw! If you don't have access to a dremel a round file will work also. Slowly sand the opening evenly and check the bulb until it fits. And don't get cut!😁I hope this helps. Also keep debris from making your reflector dirty.

I'm still looking for a good replacement bulb that will last. Also looking at adding a small capacitor to the circuit or a battery. The original bulb was ballasted and lasted longer. I will post any updated info here as I get it.

The headlamp comes on automatically. There is no switch. As soon as you start the engine your lamp should be on. Have fun on your new bike!

I have broken one by just riding and had one burn out... I'm working on putting a resistor in the circuit or a capacitor/ battery to regulate the voltage to the bulb. The quality of the bulbs also differs from each manufacturer. I will try to post an update video after l test it out to see what works best.

They burn out pretty quick. I need to add a battery or capacitor to the circuit to supply them with constant dc power.

Still working great! Intensity /brightness increases With higher rpm of motor. Far better than stock bulb. To rectify the fluctuation in brightness a battery can be added to the circuit but is not necessary for this bulb. Per manufactures statement no ballast or batteries needed for this to function. The next test will be off road conditions and how well will it hold up on the trail!

I found it on Amazon. I don't have a current link for the same bulb. The stock bulb is a p15d 12v 35 watt. Try using this as a cross reference and check back as i will try adding Amazon links again.

LEDs work on DC Voltage. Stator output is AC. Bulb won’t last it will blow out. C’mon man

The stator produces AC which is then rectified to DC....just like virtually every other stator. Otherwise, the OEM bulb would not work at all. C'mon man.
