You remember that time when you couldn't pressurize the your Coleman stove or lantern properly?
Well, it could be that the rubber cup at the end of the plunger has worn over time and need replacement. Then it is time to make the choice if you want to stick to the same original neoprene version, or if you want to upgrade and get a better more durable leather one.
The problem with the latter is that it is a bit difficult to install.
I'm giving you the perfect tip and methode how to tackle the situation.
Get the original Coleman leather pump cups here: amzn.to/3hO5Cgv

I've got a 428 that's in serious need of this operation. Was goung to wait until it failed. Probably going to be proactive on this one now.

I find it interesting that replacing the junk neoprene cups with leather is seen as an upgrade seeing as Coleman originally used leather up to the mid to late 90's. I have a 286 lantern from 96 that came with a leather cup but my 295 from 99 came with neoprene. I replace the neoprene ones with leather irrespective of how good they still are. The leather is superior in every way. As proof, my 1948 Coleman 157 table lamp still has its original leather pump cup and it work s just as good as new.

Just went through the same pump cup replacement for my Dual Fuel Model 424 Camp Stove (unleaded fuel compatible). After decades of reliable use, I tried to fix the pressurization problem by switching to a leather pump cup. I found that installing the oiled cup was too stiff. So, I phoned Coleman and they recommended Pump Cup part number 6391091 (Neoprene). I tried this and it easily installed and sealed without issues. Coleman said that this was also compatible with my 295 dual fuel lantern. So, I think the Neoprene pump cup is the way to go for these two dual fuel appliances. I suggest phoning Coleman toll free to get replacement part information for your specific appliance since the pump chamber diameter (and generators) are slightly different, depending on model.

@@AroundAndAround2 Coleman only changed to the neoprene because they are WAY cheaper to make and they wear out (planned obsolescence) but if they work better for you who am I to argue. lol I know on by 290 and 295 the founts are identical except for paint colour and stickers. The pump tube on all the founts are the same as is the diameter of the pumps. The leather can be stiff though but working it a bit solves that. I make my own pump cups now as what Coleman is charging is far too much. I literally make them for pennies. I have dozens of lanterns and stoves and have yet to have a leather pump cup fail on me. The neoprene though have always either worn our or split. To each his own though. I'm just glad you found something that works and that you're happy with. Enjoy your lantern and stove.😀

That was the first thing I changed on my 533 when I bought it. Leather has worked great all along, changing to the plastic pump cup and stem retainer was a horrible design change.

Love the beer can idea as a funnel to get the leather seal into the pump. That stopped me too. Will make a beer can funnel/guide. Thanks!

Nice (leuke! :-) ) film you put up here and yes I have always leather gloves in reach in my camper, better be save and not only for very sharp things. I cook on LPG but that is not everywhere to find. I use also Primus stoves outside on petrol as well. But how does the leathercup works now? Is it now not so strong anymore really comfortable now? Greetings from home Holland. ;-)
