Logan's death scene is the fulfillment of Yukio's prophecy about his death: "I saw you lying on your back, there's blood everywhere, and you're holding your heart in your hand." Before this movie, most people think it's literal heart that he's holding but in this movie it's clear that the heart is a metaphor for Laura, his daughter, as he's holding her hand when he dies.
@DavidDarnold-1980Ай бұрын
If you consider Wolverine/Logan's past, much of his life, and if you've followed him in the comics, you see that he's a tragic character who has suffered enormous loss in his long life. He's also a flawed hero, a man with a tragic past, who makes mistakes, but wants to be better. These traits are what have made him such an interesting character and this film truly brings that out.
@stefanhuddleston68162 ай бұрын
The film she quotes that they watched earlier is Shane (1953). In the film a world weary gunslinger trying to escape his past helps a widow and her young son defend their home from men who want to take her land. The story seems cliché today but Shane was one of the early films to introduce that trope. In the film the son idolizes Shane's life as a gunslinger while Shane tries to discourage the boy from a life of violence. Shane gives the speech Laura quotes, after the final fight, severely wounded he rides into the sunset while slumped over in his saddle. To this dat film scholar debate whether or not he dies as he ride off. So that scene she quotes has a much deeper relevance if you know the details of Shane.

A piece of information in the comics, Logan killed a bunch of x-men and heroes while being under a spell of mysterio … he was in a friendly base, instead of seeing friends he saw some villains and thought they had killed his friends so he went and attacked them one after the other… (but it was his friends x-men and hero’s) when he came back to himself he saw all the corpse of his friend that he just killed… he coudnt take it and tried to end is life… he pitted is head on a train rail and waited for the train to only survive it… as in the movie Charles killed many x-men and heures and people too due to is mental and physical illness … that’s what is supposed to come before the movie … (if I remember right they thought of doing it in the movie but it was a bit to heavy for a begening) that’s why Charles say Logan what have you done ! What have you done in the begening… and we learn it in the radio for Charles…

Keep in mind when watching this movie Logan is not canon to the other Fox X-Men film continuity. This film takes place in an alternate timeline that was created after the events of Days of Future past. Iron Man Captain America both kill people. Spider-Man the only one who doesn't kill people but he has killed alien creatures. You should also know the adamantium does not run through Laura's entire body it only in her hands and feet. That's why Laura had to pull the bullet out with her teeth because the bullet got stuck in a bone in her arm. If you're wondering why Logan is going by James howlett that is his real name. If you don't remember in the wolverine movie his death was predicted. Logan would be lying down covered in blood holding his own heart in his hand.
@nvp81914 ай бұрын
Wolverine also has a more military view of situation just like Steve and Tony but Tony has a better capacity to kill through his technology. Steve can kill easier due to his self-righteous view of the world and his justification to kill when he deems it necessary which means Steve can kill easier than wolverine due to the fact that when wolverine kills one thought goes to his mind. Is his killing necessary because he's the best and what he do or is killing who Logan is because he's not very nice.

Her facial expressions were so nuanced that even with only little speaking lines, she was able to show masterfully all the spectrum of emotions a raging, confused but ultimately innocent child - who just happened to be a god-level mutant. What I like so much about the Western genre is how much it’s steeped in reality. They’re often tragic, painful and evil. But much like life, there are these small moments of beauty in between all the tragedies we experience day to day. And if we are lucky, we have an opportunity to be there for the ones we love and be their hero. Sometimes in small moments, sometimes in big moments. The beauty of a western isn’t always a happy ending but being able to do something GOOD… one last time. 😢

I saw this in theaters and absolutely lost it when she changed the cross to an 'X'. I had to sit through the credits just to get my face dry and then took a long drive in a quiet car. Very few movies come anywhere close to hitting like that. Every scene gets the chance to breathe. Each character is given time to react and grow. Logan's apathy to Laura (and most everything else) is entirely believable. Just within the scope of this movie, Charles has hurt or killed hundreds of people and many of those close friends to both him and Logan. Logan must be furious, but can't channel that anywhere. Logan helps Charles because someone should and nobody else can. The very last thing anyone needs is a dangerous quest--even if it's to help children. The build up through this is spectacular. Like you, maybe, I can't quite saw that I enjoy this movie just because it's so heavy. However, I do hold this up as an objectively good movie. Well crafted story. Actors giving just amazing effort in their characters. A director trusting the audience to follow. It's an amazing production.

It not something a lot of reactors do, it means your analyzing the scene, not from a cinematic student point of view deconstructing the scene, but more appreciating the depth of a scene. I like it. 2) you stop on text and read articles to further the depth of the scene or plot. Its impressive the amount of curiosity you have for something so small, most if not all other reactors would simply skip over it and move on. Well done young lady. I will subscribe and enjoy your content further, but if you havent already, you need to react to Firefly.

Colette. Yes, it was dark, but perfect. The evil Wolverine was what Logan could have been and what they wanted him to be a no compassion killer. Logan was polar opposite. He had compassion and kindness. He was a dark and tortured soul, but he was a solider too. As a veteran I can see he experiences nightmare and has to deal with trauma of wars. To me this movie told us story through children. Who the children KNOW is a hero. Logan never felt he was a hero, but he was. They cut Logan's beard, they nurtured him back to health, the young boy holding the Wolverine toy. The looked up to him. Same with Charles to Logan...Charles was the father to Logan. Logan loved him like a father. He in turned wanted to do same for Laura, his daughter. Him telling her don't be what they made you was passing on his knowledge and not wanting her to experience same pain he did. Logan was thrown into fatherhood, but he did amazing. I know it isn't from this movie..but the line "you will die with your heart in your hand." Really hit home for me in this movie and having a daughter myself...she is my heart.

This was original content and trying to clean up some story lines and a swan song for Hugh stopping playing Wolverine, and I believe it was the last Fox mutant film. They sort of throw in some of the Old Man Logan story line, along with some other things from the comic books, combined with some original ideas of their own. You’re so observant and caught so much, more than I’ve seen almost anyone that isn’t a complete fanboy and read all the Wolverine comics. There was a call back at the end that I’m guessing someone already mentioned but in the The Wolverine movie, they mention that he dies with his heart in his hand; he did, holding Laura’s hand. Laura actually heals quicker than Logan because she doesn’t have adamantium in all of body, only the implants, but she isn’t as durable and so gunfire can break her bones, and get injuries that Wolverine doesn’t have to worry about. She also can’t perform all the feats of strength that Logan can do because of his adamantium anatomy. I believe at one time he held an elevator and threw it and it weighted like 80,000 lbs. It’s been alluded to that he’s a level 4 on strength and classified as being able to lift between 800 lbs to 25 tons. Just his skeleton is very heavy, and that’s part of why he was telling them to run and go when the truck crushed X-24; he knew he could lift it in his younger days and would survive. Great reaction!!

A great example of adapting the comics. And also how to end a character's story.

The girl who plays laura is the apprentice in the new star wars acolyte show and she is suchhhh a good actress and cant wait to see her in deadpool & wolverine! But yeah logan was the perfect ending to the story for the wolverine we have been following since X1

As a kid who first started reading comic books in the mid 80's, the X-Men was my favorite series, and Wolverine was one of my favorite characters. Only a handful of super hero movies have captured what comics books were in any meaningful way, and Logan is one of those finest efforts. First off, Wolverine was always an mature themed character, so having this movie be rated "R" was finally doing this character justice, and it did not go to waste. A movie like this was only possible because you had time over past movies to really know the characters and allow them to become family. This movie perfectly shows that most heroes rarely if ever have a happy ending, and it was all the better for showing that, and not holding anything back, this was a masterpiece.

I agree with you that this movie is depressing, but we must also admit that it works. Wolverine's whole life has revolved around pain (both emotional and physical) and anger in service to doing the right thing. Here we see it continuing to follow this pattern to the very end.

1:11:30 On his back, in blood, _with his heart in his hand._ Yukio was right after all in "The Wolverine" when she saw Logan's death, just his heart in his hand meant something a little different...

The fact that out of the three of them in the family the son was the first to go. For a second there, that father and mother was without a son 💔💔💔💔💔 as sad and dark as that was hopefully they're all together in heaven

This movie is so extremely hard to watch because the creators and actors perfectly accomplished what they set out to do. Laura found family and she will forever remember all that Logan did for her and that he was a good man. Logan finally found peace in the end. Dafne's performance blew me away. She was amazing! In the future I will watch any movie if she is in it. Hugh, as usual did a fantastic job too. I hope to see Dafne in her own movie and story as Logan's daughter.

A tear jerker. Dark, but I think a great sendoff for a hero we all loved for so long. It also introduced new mutants to possibly continue the legend. It ends for me here. Haven't seen any daredevil where they say Logan is back. The end of an era.

Hugh Jackman is definitely a seasoned actor. One of a few......you may also want to check out his immensely powerful performance in "The Fountain" with Rachel Weiss.I will have to warn you though, It is a life changing experience.

Dafne Keen aka Laura aka X23 was asked if she is going to be in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie. She said no but it wouldn't be the first time an actor lied about being in a movie. It would be cool if she joined the Young Avengers. She's been in a few movies and shows. Most recently The Acolyte.
