Agreed!! My true living, breathing guitar hero! (That and I had a huge crush on him growing up). Finally got to see him play about 8 years ago and I was smitten all over again!😍 I wish more people knew his music.

The way he plays the opening makes me think of a later recording "A Man's Gotta Be A Stone.".

Unfortunately Colin is Canada's best kept secret. I wish Micheal Buble would have him on his Christmas special.

Don't forget his frizzy-haired companion Chris Caddell who is now a member of Big Wreck, but also occasionally still plays with Colin. You can see Chris solo after Ian in One More Chance live Nashville.

Not that I find his new stuff bad but his first two albums are definitely his best work in my opinion. Also I think he took a bit of inspiration from ZZ Top's La Grange with the riff on this song - at least it reminds me of that song. Though I guess its a fairly common pacing for the blues rock genre.
@MrJett19718 жыл бұрын
Uh, the "La Grange riff" as you describe it (which appeared on ZZ Top's album Tres Hombres in 1973) was inspired by the guitar riff in the original Otis Rush version of Keep On Loving Me, Baby, which was released in 1958...and was likely inspired by John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Lemon Jefferson and a dozen other early blues artists. Like trying to trace ownership to the walking bass line in 1,001 blues, jazz and rock and roll songs, it's as if it appeared out of nowhere, virtually impossible to trace.
