I think Purdy is a solid QB. Having said that, if they pay him 60 million a year, they won’t be a SB contender for the length of the contract. He can run a good offense with solid weapons, he won’t be able to carry a team lacking top tier players.

Trevor is a better QB than Purdy. Purdy is a system QB on a usually loaded roster with a noodle arm. For perspective Jimmy G. took the Niners to a Superbowl. Jags draft terrible for being in the top 10 every year and they spend money poorly, poorly coached. Niners one of the proudest franchises ever. Jags expansion team. Nick is usually solid, the Chiefs being so great makes him look better though. When all the fans were doubting last season he keeps the faith. Even when Mahomes has his sprains he keeps the faith.

As a Lions fan, I'm worried about their defense too. I was at the 49ers-Lions game last night, and the 49ers made our D look bad. However, the difference is, this Lions team plays to win. I loved when Colin told Gregg Cossell that Purdy just the same QB without major pieces on offense, and Greg replied that 95% of the NFL’s QB’s are the same. Purdy battled from a practice squad QB to take the starting spot, and led them to an NFC Championship game, a Super Bowl and was like 3rd in MVP voting last year. Just seems like he’s seeking reasons to defend a “take” he made rather than appreciating a player’s accomplishments. He defended Trevor Lawrence and his contract because he’s obviously going to be good because he’s a #1 pick, and Purdy is bad because he was the last pick.

And at least last year you could argue that nobody had a great case But this season Goff and Darnold have BOTH won more games than Allen as of right now, while playing a significantly stronger schedule and actually having to play each other in division, that with their passing numbers also being better. The only difference is that Allen is an actual consensus elite QB so it rolls better off the tongue to say he is a lock for MVP. Amd of course, his 7 or 8 QB sneak TDs to boost tgat total TD number that some love to bring up, and then act as if every rushing TD he has is instead him running over 3 linebackers at the goal line after a 27 yards scramble.

Nah, he doesn't. I mean, he has a nice case, but is nowhere near as ironclad as you're suggesting. If you're gonna be the first RB to win it in over a decade, in a season where not 1, not 2, but arguably 4 or 5 QBs are having MVP caliber seasons, 13 rushing TDs, 15 overall, is just not enough. If instead of pushing Jalen's, or Pickett's, butts the Eagles ran Saquon at the one yards line he would be easily over 20 TDs and then this convo would be a lot more interesting. As of right now Jalen Hurts, who hasn't played in 2 weeks, has more rushing TDs than him. You ain't competing against 4-6 QBs who combine for nearly or easily over 40 TDs each with 15 TDs. And by the way... Erick Dickerson, the guy that still has the record, didn't win MVP that year, Dan Marino did. And that back when it was not a "QB award". So it's not like just the record should make him a prohibitive favorite.

The difference between Brock and Darnold is he went to a great College program, elite arm, size, mobile, big time and timely plays. Also graded as a consensus top 5 draft pick. Unlike Purdy who has every physical limitation imaginable, no pedigree and draft status says that. I'm sorry Darnold wasn't able to succeed with the Jets and Panthers like every single quarterback outside of Newton in recent memory. He was backup to Brock last year who was already their guy and Darnold didn't even get a chance. Some guys mature late and found the perfect match in Minnesota. I was skeptical at first but 16 games in a row he's been a stud with numbers that should be considered in the MVP conversation if his name wasn't Sam Darnold.

He also had that awful 5 intercept game, remove that and hes only thrown 5 ints and 34tds over the other 15 games.
