Have you ever met someone and thought to yourself, "This guy is so cool and so deep and in general a true, pure, gift to mankind, I'd love to just spend the afternoon shoulder to shoulder, making music"... This is that guy.

One of the things i like about KZbin is how you sometimes come across cover versions that take an already class song and make it sound even better. This is one of those times, i love this!

Colin's voice really brings out the emotion in Ray Davies's lyrics. You can feel the narrator's sense of isolation. A brilliant performance of a brilliant song.

After listening to The Kinks` original recording, I came here to hear this. I don`t usually listen to other folks` renditions. So I said to myself - Let`s see what sort of mess this bloke has made of it . . . I was gobsmacked on my first listen, so I googled Colin Hay . . . he`s only the vocalist from Men At Work, I never knew . . . Lovely rendition of this classic, Colin, I`m glad I ventured in for a listen! My best wishes to you.

Years ago (2002, maybe?), I saw Colin Hay do a solo acoustic show at the Ironwood Grill in Calgary. In addition to being a very talented songwriter and performer, he’s also incredibly funny. His commentary between songs had the audience howling with laughter. If you have a chance to see him perform, go!!

Ray Davies wrote the perfect pop song in 1967. I've loved this song from the first time i heard it on the radio, when I must of been about 7 years old. I'm 52 now and I still love it every time I play it on my Something Else cd. How can anyone dislike this song.

I've always felt that the 'sha la la's' were an unnecessarily cheesy choice that sort of trivialized the song - but loved everything else about it. Certainly didn't miss them in Colin's rendition, although I miss all the other harmonies. So I'd say the song is nearly perfect minus the sha la la's.

Hey... Colin. Landed here by accident (similar to @Guytunes below), skeptical... but hey, in case he butchers it (alone, and I was looking for the harmony vocals, too), I'll go on to the next version... and then, you just play & sing, nothing fancy, really - and then (I'm just 1 in 7.5billion, right) you capture the essence of one of the greatest tunes of all times, in beatiful simplicity. I guess I just want to say: Thank you. Thank you very much!

Fantastic. First hear this in my sister's 45 collection, I might've been five years old. I loved it so much. I was in the San Fernando Valley so what did I know from Waterloo Station, lol. Then I saw The Kinks Schoolboys in Disgrace tour at CSUN Gymnasium, met Ray and got a pic with him. By then I was about twelve. Excellent cover, Mr. Hay!

My dad just showed me a live version of “I Just Don’t Think I’ll Ever Get Over You” the other night and I sat in rapture. When it was over I said “Why have you never shown this to me?!”. Then I realized you wrote “Down Under” which was my favorite song as a kid. I’ve listened to you probably every day since. Just wanted to let you know that you’ve been inspiring this young musician (with a little strabismus of my own no less!) for most of my life. Thanks for the music and the stories and the smiles. Colin is great singer and has composed some real gems. His voice is quite incredible since he actually reaches a C#5 in Overkill which is really high for a man using his normal voice (not falsetto). He's also a very decent rythm and lead guitar player and a really entertaining story teller. I actually like him better on his own than with Men At Work. Thierry from France

Hats off Colin, you have nailed it. Your voice has the same timbre as it did in the early 80s when you were the sixth form rage - and to date pitch perfect. I once saw you in the late 90s at the Australian Embassy in Bonn, aptly called the Foster’s Boomerang Bar. Driving from Broome to Darwin in 2001, I had Transcendental Highway on repeat in the car CD. So somehow every decade, I unwittingly keep on bumping into you.

Colin is a great gift. He like Tommy Emmanuel both are extremely talented, have humility and the greatest of humor to go along with it all. I remember learning this tune in an acoustic form. The lyrics and chords as you play and sing, instantly take you to a sweet nostalgic place filled with longing and melancholy but also happiness. Down under is a place of wonder. I’m thinking that the two thumbs down had to be in error, right? Sunsets ahhh😃 then “Here comes the Sun” little darlin 🤙🐋
