After listening to The Kinks` original recording, I came here to hear this. I don`t usually listen to other folks` renditions. So I said to myself - Let`s see what sort of mess this bloke has made of it . . . I was gobsmacked on my first listen, so I googled Colin Hay . . . he`s only the vocalist from Men At Work, I never knew . . . Lovely rendition of this classic, Colin, I`m glad I ventured in for a listen! My best wishes to you.

Years ago (2002, maybe?), I saw Colin Hay do a solo acoustic show at the Ironwood Grill in Calgary. In addition to being a very talented songwriter and performer, he’s also incredibly funny. Ray Davies wrote the perfect pop song in 1967. I've loved this song from the first time i heard it on the radio, when I must of been about 7 years old. I'm 52 now and I still love it every time I play it on my Something Else cd. How can anyone dislike this song.
@orchidwave25743 жыл бұрын
I've always felt that the 'sha la la's' were an unnecessarily cheesy choice that sort of trivialized the song - but loved everything else about it. Certainly didn't miss them in Colin's rendition, although I miss all the other harmonies. So I'd say the song is nearly perfect minus the sha la la's.

Hey... Colin. Landed here by accident (similar to @Guytunes below), skeptical... but hey, in case he butchers it (alone, and I was looking for the harmony vocals, too), I'll go on to the next version... and then, you just play & sing, nothing fancy, really - and then (I'm just 1 in 7.5billion, right) you capture the essence of one of the greatest tunes of all times, in beatiful simplicity. I guess I just want to say: Thank you. Thank you very much!

Colin is a great gift. He like Tommy Emmanuel both are extremely talented, have humility and the greatest of humor to go along with it all. I remember learning this tune in an acoustic form. The lyrics and chords as you play and sing, instantly take you to a sweet nostalgic place filled with longing and melancholy but also happiness. Down under is a place of wonder. I’m thinking that the two thumbs down had to be in error, right? Sunsets ahhh😃 then “Here comes the Sun” little darlin 🤙🐋
