When I make a pineapple upside down cake I use crushed pineapple. Drain it. Reserve the juice. I also use a pineapple flavored cake by Duncan Hines. Make the cake as directed in the box but substitute the drained pineapple juice for the water. Use a 9x13 pan, melt about 1/2 stick of butter in the pan. Add light brown sugar, about 1/3 cup. Melt sugar in the butter. Add cherries that are cut in half or whole if you prefer. Add drained pineapple, then top with cake batter. Bake as directed on the cake mix box. This is a very moist and delicious cake. Enjoy!!

I use crushed pineapple too, but no cherries….it’s so yummy.

The problem with the 9,x13 pan is you can't get the pretty bottom of it with rings of pineapple.
@catblazer43439 ай бұрын
@@bowermancrystalmail That’s true but you have a more even distribution of the pineapple which to me is the best part.

Hi Tammy & Chris! Who doesn't love desserts made with pineapple!!? We've enjoyed using your Apple Skillet Cake recipe and swapping out fruits. We've used White Lily Pound Cske mix for the cake when we've been running short on time. We've used peaches and apricots in addition to using pineapple in place of the apples. We usually have two 12-inch cast iron skillets to make this recipe. There are never any leftovers with my crew! The two pies you made....oh my! My crew goes thru a pie like they were eating popcorn! Pies disappear in the blink of an eye! They like to place cake slices on the grill to warm the cake and just long enough to get some grill marks; same thing with any slices of fruit being served wi5h the pound cake. With warm weather arriving, they're looking forward to pound cake with grilled fruit and a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream! Thanks for another video, y'all! 🌞

Dear Tammy and Chris, That is the most beautiful Merange Pie I have ever seen. It looks delicious so I want to try a Banana Cream Pie with your recipe. You bake like a professional. I've wanted to tell you both that your new kitchen is amazing. You make baking look easy. One of my 4 younger sisters is a baker. I love to cook. My husband picks, freezes or cans our, Rainer and Bing cherry trees, 2 peach trees, a cling, and a Freestone, plus plants 4 different types of tomato plants, garlic, onions, sugar snap peas, etc. Now if I could talk him into having chicken for the eggs, I'd be thrilled. I'll be 70 next month and he'll be 94 in June. He's more active than men in their 70's. We fish, and travel in our motorhome towing our boat to Idaho every summer for a family reunion. I save many of your recipes to try later. God bless you and your family. I love you all in Christ. Hugs from northern California.

Hey, Tammy-my late mother in law was a professional baker, and her secret for meringue (and whipped cream) was powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar. Works like a dream

Kathie says.. I never spray the skillet when I make pineapple upside down cake. The butter that is in the topping coats the sides as the cake bakes and rises. The recipe that I use is over 100 years old and is just the best tasting cake! I also put pecans all over on top of the pineapple and cherries. I only make this cake for special occasions because my husband and I will slice off a bite size piece of it just about every time we walk past it ! Between the two of us, the cake will be gone in two days! That’s just not good, and since I won’t substitute anything in the recipe, I only make it about 4 times a year. It is a “YAAAAAAAAAAAAY CAKE” for sure!!

I once used a recipe where I cooked cornstarch in water until it was clear and thick, then added it to the meringue and I couldn’t believe the volume! After I put it on the pie it was about 8-10 inches high! I had to move the shelves in the oven for it to fit in there. Well once it was browned it had deflated some and I didn’t really care for the texture. It was prettier piled up on the pie before I cooked it. I never used that recipe again. 😂
