I can't believe this!😮 This has been in my Moma's recipe box since the mid 60s under the name of "Doves Birthday Cake" because Moma always made it for my birthday. She's gone now and all of my belongings are in storage along with this recipe. Hadn't been able to locate them. My husband started making it for me but he passed away January this year. I have struggled so much without him and had thought I'd not get to have my BD cake ever again. I Hadn't looked online for it but I turned on KZbin today and BAM, it was top of the page! I'm very teary eyed right now cuz ya see, my birthday is in 2 weeks😢 Thanks❤😢

My grandmother made the best strawberry cake, coconut cakes and any cake you wanted. She would make and sell so many for all of the holidays. People in the community and from town to town would order her cakes. They called her the best cake maker In the town. I really miss her dearly.

I used to make this cake in a Bundt cake pan and glaze it with the strawberry icing. I used other berries and called it the Any berry Bundt cake. It was always a hit. I never thought about making it in a sheet pan. So much simpler. Yum. I need to make this. I used fresh sweetened berries.

I am more than happy this recipe showed up on my feed. I know it's weird for a guy to like strawberry cake but it's the only one I want for my birthdays. I eat it once a year. Y'all don't have to remove the juice from the strawberries. Just add an extra cup or so of powdered sugar and you're good

Oh my goodness Sharon, that just sounds so delicious! Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines used to have on the store shelves raspberry cake flavor and frosting. They done away with that flavor and I've not been able to find it in years. I loved it I thought it was one of the most delicious cakes I had ever tasted. You just gave me a fantastic idea of how to make a raspberry cake with raspberry frosting! THANKS!

We have a similar cake in our family but after the cake cools we poke holes all in the cake with a tooth pick and pour that strawberry juice in the holes. Then we use a cool whip icing with added frozen strawberries and enough juice to make it pink. I hope you feel better soon!

​@@saritaylor3648Not who you asked but I thought I'd share my way. I use a few tsps of instant pudding. You can use any brand but it does have to be instant. I've used the Jell-O brand and it's okay but the one I like the most is Godiva. I use their white chocolate flavor. Because you're not using too much you won't taste the white chocolate. The reason I like Godiva the best has to do with how finely milled the powder is. If you do decide to use another brand but want a finely milled powder just blitz some up in a mini chopper until it's finely milled. I use 2-3 tsps to 1 cup of heavy cream. Keep in mind that's in addition to the powdered sugar used as well. Hope this helps. Happy baking...

@@lindamichael7903 I’ve had eggs that stayed down and were rotten, so it’s not always reliable. I have chickens so I check the eggs before I put them in the incubator and check them again over the 3 weeks of gestation. Having a rotten egg explode in an incubator is not fun to deal with.

My grocery stores don't carry those strawberries either. Guess I will need to make them from fresh. The sugar pulls the liquid out of the strawberries so maybe that's why they are used. I'm thinking to make a double layer cake and "frost" the in-between layer with strawberry preserves sandwiched in vanilla icing to prevent soggy cake

I make the same exact one because I use a strawberry cake mix a lemon wine if I'm making a lemon cloud cake that extra juice I used to to make a strawberry whipped cream I make my wonderful homemade buttercream and add that along with my milk and powdered sugar ❤😊
