The roof on the spyder RS is the same roof as on the original 987 spyder, albeit the pull tabs on the buttresses. Unless you're using the car daily, it's really not an issue and is easy to use.

Two things First, all the people winging about the roof obviously haven’t given it any thought. The previous spyder’s roof doesn’t fit due to the ITBs, so unless you’re going to redo the entire back deck lid and trunk, you have very little you can do. Second, you didn’t drive the RS? Its entire point is the engine and the magic sound the intakes make. And the way the whole thing works so well together: engine, handling, steering, braking…all pretty near perfect. Drive one, then it will be an entirely different car to you. There’s nothing like it.

The guy just collected the car and drove to the meet. I was hardly going to ask him if I could drive it with 69 miles on it And I never said anything negative about the car. I love the look of it. But I live with my car and the roof is a bit of a faff, so his will be more so.

Wow, I'm jealous of seeing you enjoying your Spider with the wind in the hair motoring. However, its not the car I'm envious of. It's the hair! Incidently, I prefer your bonnet. Different is not necessarily better. In fact I prefer the whole front end of your car. Sometimes, less is more! I also prefer your smaller boot spoiler. Your car has a simple beauty that has been adulterated in his. Don't get dragged in by the hype of the marketing boys.

Another great video with awesome drone shots ! I have a 981 Boxster S 2016 and have allocation in 2025 for a 718 4.0 GTS Boxster. I had a test drive in a 718 Spyder this week...............how can you even consider selling your Spyder ! I am thinking the same way you went. Spyder over 4.0 GTS ! Look forward to Wednesday's

If the Boxster will be your daily then I say keep with the GTS. If it’s a weekend blast car, then you should consider the Spyder (if you can get one). However, I have my 911 and the Spyder is very similar to it.

Nice comparison between them, I can see why there’s no Wiessach pack on it at £10k for exposed carbon fibre! I’m not sure how I feel about the Spyder RS, it’s really pricey and you could get a decent 992 GT3 for that. I was supposed to be going to a Porsche meet myself yesterday, but ended up in bed with a bug!

Owned a Spyder and now a Spyder RS w/Weissach. I love all Porsches, but this is my second favorite after my 911R. So engaging yet more civil than my GT3’s (*which I sold)

Great comparison. The first non-Weissach RS Spyder review I've seen. The Spyder RS roof is shockingly bad. It's a real deterrent to owning the car. A real missed opportunity to not fit your Spyder roof to the Spyder RS.

Not a criticism of your comment but your concern about the roof is a non issue for the very large majority of owners. The majority have multiple vehicles and are not concerned with practicality. I wish they had gone with their original plan which was no roof at all. I would still have bought the car

@@klkh2002 Yes, GT owners have multiple vehicles, we all do. Porsche knew the Sypder wasn't going to be tracked, they reduced the downforce vs the GT4 RS and fitted softer suspension. Porsche should have also fit the car with the Spyder roof as the current one is a joke/PIA.

One day 'Dan'...still not using your real name...you'll get a GT4 which in my opinion is better than a regular 718 or even Carrera S. I think you have an awesome car amd 400hp is just want you want for a touring car. You can use all the power from the engine, get on it and not get in trouble. Would you ever get a GT4, or just make your own?
