2 Car Garage Suggestion: Your 50th birthday is looming, you run a successful catering company and have decided to treat yourself to a new (to you) 2 car garage. You need a daily which you can use to visit clients (so not too ostentatious), spy on competitors and is relatively economical and practical. You also want something for a bit of fun at the weekend, you are beginning to realise that power isn't everything and driving fun is more important, thus you are looking for something that is most fun to drive under triple digits (the sweet spot where your significant doesn't say your driving too fast). Having just engine swapped your eldest sons mini R53 you are open to something that may require some mechanical tlc. The budget, the same amount you can't bring yourself to spend on a 992 Carrera, £90,000. Love the podcast and keep up the great work.

Idea for 2 car garage: You're a professional in the South East in your late 20's. You're trying to slot in a premature mid-life crisis into the calendar before children, mortgage payments, and the seemingly inexorable march of electrification put paid to your dreams of mid-life sports car motoring. You've got £30k to play with for two cars (more if you're confident of low depreciation + maintenance). You "need" one sports car as your daily + road trip car, and something a bit more practical for your automatic-gearbox-only fiancée. While the sports car will be yours for the next few years, you know in your heart that it'll have to go when you buy the house, so you want to sneak enough fun into the second car to tide you over to your next toy. Have loved every episode so far, keep it up 😊

Two Car Garage Proposal - You are a 35 year old Veterinary Surgeon who has recently had the chance to buy into the practice they have worked at for a decade. You want to treat yourself to two cars to celebrate. As your work involves examining horses and farm animals which can be a messy business; one car needs to reflect this and be able to carry all the necessary gear to deal with such situations. It would preferably be new with warranty. The second car is a weekend sporty number for blasting the Lake District B roads as that is where you live. Budget is £100,000 but as the first car can be written down against tax there may be some wiggle room 😅 Love the pod, highlight of my Friday commute. Jonny Place

Manish, your description of the 456GT experience has brought back so many memories of my own - all too brief - romance with the soulful four-seat Ferrari. I bought my 1995, rosso/crema, manual, example from Maranello Concessionaires back in 2000. I loved it. The way it looked, the power, the noise, the open gate gear change and the way it handled like a car half its size on damp roundabouts! It wasn't perfect though and it wasn't long before I discovered why I was the 5th owner in less than 6000miles. During my 5month/4000mile tenure it spent 13 weeks in Maranello's workshop having various minor and major faults rectified. When it finally returned, I took it for a short drive (to confirm everything was working before embarking on a road trip to Scotland) and the water pump exploded leaving me in a cloud of steam on the A23. It went back to Egham with the V5 in the glove box and I never saw it again. Still miss it.

2 Car Garage Idea: You’ve been a lifelong petrolhead, traction tester and all round right foot carpet burrier. After finishing a stint driving other people’s cars for a living, writing about it and generally dicking around, with little to no time for yourself to simply enjoy driving, you have some spare time on your hands. A soon to be retiring FI driver has been admiring you from afar for decades, and, although not partial to a man-kini he has taken a shine to you and decided to allow you to pilot any of his plethora of historic F1 cars on a road trip, from Watford Gap services down to Monaco for race weekend. The choice from this fantasy garage is limitless (just like his adoration for you) *wink wink. You may also pick the most incredible route through France, via any other neighbouring mountainous road section in Europe to fully immerse yourself in the sounds and smells of a bygone F1 masterpiece. Your admirer will also pick up the bill for the chiropractor at the end and fly you back first class after the GP. You are allowed a ‘fantasy’ co-driver (can be absolutely anyone) pick for the journey as they will be driving, and must purchase, a suitable support vehicle for tyres, luggage and 3 or 4 days or even a week's worth of Haribo and Mellow Birds Espresso, not to mention a big enough boot or cargo space for the bank vault of cash needed for the French rozzer’s speeding fines on the way down. The support vehicle must have street cred, curb appeal and never, ever, been anywhere near an electric charging point. We are talking retro chic, street cred and with a hint of peril at its chances of making it all the way to Monaco. Put simply: one historic F1 car, one support vehicle, one fantasy co-driver to spend a week with. Choose your poison.

In your hometown, you made a lot of noise, constantly showing off exotics and luxury cars. You currently have a 2004 Bentley Arnage and a bright green Lamborghini Murcielago with a gated manual. When you get to Los Angeles, you want to be a little bit more low-key, whilst still enjoying the life of luxury. You're looking for an automatic cruiser for the more monotonous journeys and a sports or supercar for the odd occasion the schedule is free for a drive up the canyons. The budget is 1 million USD.

@chriscooper: The correct term is the "Vapo-gun". Vaporises the vehicle in front allowing you to pass through the cloud of vapour it creates. Main uses: 1. Scottish highland roads for those not proceeding with appropriate haste (and/or camper vans) 2. those hogging the outside lane when they should be movign over to allow me to pass The "Vapo" bit is relatively easy, but re-assembling the vapour to un-kill those who failed to pull over is still work in progress. I think for the likes of the GT3 RS and other track cars, post-ban manufacturers will just sell non-road legal track cars - just take your ICE track car to the track on a trailer with your EV. Not only 80% EV by 2030 but Euro 7 pretty much kills off any non-hybrid ICE engines - with some exceptions for smaller manufacturers. Toto Wolff has made it clear that Lewis would be gone by the end of the 2025 anyway. Great move for Lewis to go to Ferrari where he can drive for longer.

@PazLeBon Having worked in vehicle emissions for a decade, I know that a modern diesel is THE most environmentally appropriate fuel for most applications. NOx and CO2 are very low as are particulates. Drive a modern diesel through most cities and what comes out of the tailpipe is cleaner than what went in. On motorways you get 70+ MPG too. So maybe wind in your brain washed bigotry and be open to science and not the media...

@@YellowPinkiehhahahahahah a Diesel cars tend to have lower volumetric fuel consumption figures than comparable gasoline vehicles. However, the benefit in terms of CO2 emissions is significantly lower, as the combustion of 1 liter of diesel fuel releases approximately 13% more CO2 than for the same amount of gasoline fuel. Diesel engines require fuel-intensive NOx reduction technologies and are heavier than their gasoline counterparts, which further reduces the alleged CO2 benefit of diesel cars. Diesel cars also typically are equipped with more powerful engines and have a higher real-world CO2 emissions gap than gasoline cars. EVs work very well for a small second car for short trips round town ,which is what we bought a second hand one for (at an excellent knock down price), can charge it at home at 7.5p per Kwh, range isn't anything we need to worry about, does my wifes short commute and other local trips with ease. But for shifting the four of us plug dogs and luggage half way up the country to visit family on a regular basis? Thats what the big comfy diesel estate is for. The future isn't going to be one thing or another, but the manufactorers have taken a complete wrong turn on EVs and where they fit into the world with the current state of the techology.

I do have a 120 mile round trip commute 4 days a week. None of my portfolio cars will ever make sense to do that commute. I can see life without my Spyder, but I do not see one without an electric car. I do save $600 a month or 7k a year on fuel driving the model s. Oh, and the best part is that these are the most reliable and least needy cars for maintenance. Only tires, nothing else. These EVs are for people who use cars as transportation devices, they are not for 911 owners. Just look how many bought a rav4 vs a 911. Do not compare a Taycan to a 911, compare it to a Panamera. They have their own money and R and D, with Andretti racing as the shop to do the assembly and provide tools and know how, with GM engineers…..clearly not about having to spend money on a new team, it’s about that new team taking money away from an organization. It’s about press being focused and paying for someone else and not them, lowering the pot the teams split every year because 11 instead of 10 teams…..I mean really Cooper, siding with them blindly, is because America scares you?

No, it’s obvious. F1 is a business, the 10 teams are effectively stakeholders in that business. Theres absolutely no point in diluting their market share, and for what? Nothing that helps them. It’s obvious. Grow up

I wonder if there were massive purchases of Ferrari or Liberty stock prior to the announcement. Insider trading would be my first guess for why maximum impact was so important.

A question predominantly for Manish but I would be interested in everyone's opinion. Do you think Ayrton Senna would have driven for Ferrari towards the end of his career? Keep up the good work guys. Regards Mike Jones

He met Luca Montezemolo at his home, on the Wednesday before he died, to discuss just that. He was heading there for 1996 - Luca was 100% sure of that.

It will be interesting to see if Ferrari allow Lewis to arrive at circuits on race weekends NOT in team kit, He should look every bit the professional racing driver, and leave the Fashionista stuff for the Catwalk.
