@singingtoad you're welcome, my friend. It was way too long because of the model number explanation, but it needed to be said. ☺️

I hope you don't mind but I have a question about a Case knife that was my grandfather's, then my father's and now I've got it. Now my grandfather passed away in 1958, I don't know how long he had the knife before he died. But it is a fixed blade, stainless stag antler scales about a 3½ or 4 inch blade that is shaped like a toothpick style, slightly curved, very long point, it has ridges on the spine about an inch length from the handle, the there is a small stainless guard wear the scales and blade meet. It has a full tang that ends with what looks like pewter end pommel shaped like a saddle horn. The only marking on the knife is on the blade at the base that reads "CASE" just like that, all caps, straight type just like it looks like above, no exes, no model number. I have the original sheath, made of leather with yellow/gold stitching closing the open edge and in a small raised rectangle, raised letters CASEXX just like that in block letters all caps with some raised pattern lines that follow the contour of the sheath and with 3 stripes connected by a bar across the top of the three lines of different lengths following the shape of the sheath. The sheath has a belt loop at the top and it used to have a thin leather strap with a snap at one time but it's been missing since I was a little kid. I may have been the one to lose it but it broke from age. Now, I'm 59 years old and my grandfather's initials are lightly scratched into the back of the sheath, my father's initials are also and mine are also scratched in lightly but visibly. I've looked online a few times and haven't been able to find one in the Case history but I did find one someone was selling on some website but it had no info and was sold. Do you think you could help me figure out what year it is and model and specs, please? Thanks

@TimothyCibula-vh5ip Really interesting question 🤔 W.R. Case and Son's Bradford PA stamped knives 1914-1920 did have the circle Case XX tested on the small blades, some had tested xx on the reverse of the marked main blade. But no one (collectors books) mentions Case XX tested knives having more than one blade marked. Recently on eBay I saw a folding hunter with bothe blades marked and a Moose with bothe blades marked. Both were from the same seller so I suspected they were fake. Try reaching out to @gunslingercal. I would consider them fake but I could be wrong.

Ok thank you so much that's really what I was thinking too I think it's a fake also

@TimothyCibula-vh5ip gunslingercal said they did stamp multiple blades. Look close at the tang stamps and look for irregularities like double stamp, larger, smaller letters and uneven spacing.
