I'm guessing you may not know these that well as you casually brushed over what makes the Superformance so special. This car is constructed as the original, steel monocoque, with only the front & rear clip fiberglass. The molds are the originals which Ford sold to Safire of England, it dosn't get realer then this. If you want a GT 40 done right, there is simply no other consideration then the Superformance.

Superformance makes the best replica Shelby cars in the world.. I owned a 1965 Shelby Cobra with a 427 Roush and that car was a beast , but what’s funny is that when I took it to car events everybody thought it was the real deal and I told them it was a replica they could believe it, so if you can afford to buy one buy it from this company .
@Daylight7.7.73 жыл бұрын

@K2edg3 жыл бұрын
They make the best Gt40's i'd agree but the best Cobra's are made by Kirkham, if you buy a Kirkham alloy Cobra through Shelby you can even get one with a genuine Shelby chassis number. I belive the story goes that Shelby (the company) let Superformance build Cobra's as long as they are GRP bodies.
@setts3 Жыл бұрын
No, not true. The period GT 40 was steel monocoque + GRP. Cobra's were aluminium bodied and Superformance Shelby licensed Cobras can be aluminium or GRP. No Kirkham cannot provide a genuine chassis number. Kirkhams are great, but they are replicas and NOT Shelby licensed.

The horseshoes on the rear panel are in reference to Gulf oil advertising no-nox gasoline in the 60’s. It went something like Gulf No-Nox puts a kick in your tank! With each fill up you could get plastic, magnetic horse shoes to put on your car. I believe about the same time Esso had a campaign where their gas would put a tiger in your tank! With each fill up you could get a fabric tiger tail that would go around your gas cap, thus simulating a tiger in your tank.

fyi, the '68 and '69 winning GT40's were not 6 liters, they had the new Ford 302 (special 4 bolt variant) bored to 305 to reach the 5 liter LeMans restriction starting in '68 engine, with Gurney-Weslake heads and weber carbs.

@adamt.mercer49233 жыл бұрын
Mispronunciation of proper names is not a function of an accent. It’s likely ignorance on Roush but given the notoriety of their racing and tuning, and if you’re doing a video on this iconic car, perhaps learn proper names. Adding the letter “I” to Willans shows he really doesn’t care. He probably says “Porsh” and “RPMS” I’ve never heard another Brit say it incorrectly. Although the function of an American accent pronounces “Tudsbury” with an added “R”. You guess where. 😆
