What I said before, a proper car has a manual gear box, 400 plus bhp, no traction control, and rear wheel drive. I own a 400 bhp De Tomaso Pantera Gt5 with wide body, 345 rears, and the massive rear wing. Would not sell it for the world. Im 76 and can still drive it fast when in the mood. Very similar car to the Ford GT 40. You can have all of the push button modern super cars that are made for the new money types that often can’t drive them!

I have loved the GT40 since the age of 5 back in 1966! In 1992 I was lucky enough to get 10 laps in an original Gulf GT40 round Fords test track at Boreham, I remember the straights being short (they weren't you just got to the end very quickly). I remember being pinned into the seat with a 4-point harness and being trapped by the fuel tank, the door was pushing hard down onto my helmet, it was quite uncomfortable. The engine sound was unbelievable it was so loud! She could spin the rear wheels at over 100mph when you planted your right foot. What struck me most of all was the drift as the car exited each bend it would drift its way across the track to the next corner. By the time I had done 10 laps, I was just getting the hang of the car. Sadly I have not been in one since and I still cannot afford a Superformance-built car! I still want one and probably will even when I am 90!

I bought a 2005 Ford GT that had been totalled in 2013. Fortunately, the frame (monocock) damage was minimal. After 4 years of restoration work and a new front clip, passenger side door, mirrors and various trim pieces it was done. It's had all the X-1 upgrades and makes 700 HP. It is a fantastic car and loads of fun to drive. Not a Toyota celica on economy but who cares.

Agree with many others - I would have this any day / any time over any modern supercar. To me the analogy is in music listening. Analog vs digital. Analog has a sweet spot over digital ( not everyone agrees, however ). This GT40 would be analog, any modern version digital, with all of the overwhelming technology I'd 'want to do without. There's another classic Ford from the late 1960's into the early 1970's that'd shock a lot of Ford fans if they only knew .. It's the Australian Ford Falcon GTHO .. The most famous was the 1971 XY Phase 3 GTHO ...Absolute animal of a car if ever there was . 351 Cleveland V8 ..built to race and sold at Ford dealerships ..The HO had about 100 differences to the normal GT ..used to do over 160 mph and do it all day.. Look it up sometime .. Here in Australia the real deal sell for a million dollars plus ..but there are replicas really accurate to the real thing something like this done by keen enthusiasts ...The GT40 is truly a masterpiece though and this vid was incredible..

I got one of these back in March 21 with the 302 on carbs. As they say, plenty of power with that option and above 100 the wind noise is even louder than the engine 😱. Makes an awesome noise, and unlike modern super cars, most people on the road love them and let you out at junctions etc as opposed to cut you up if you are in a Ferrari or Porsche. One modern option I’m very glad I’ve got is the aircon as it gets very hot in there and you only have the window flaps so A/C is essential IMO. I took it on track at Snetterton but it was a very hot day and I fried the module in the distributor before I really got to grips with it, so can’t really say how good it was but everyone there said it won the award 🥇 for best looking and sounding car of the day. YOLO so if you can, just get one 👍
