Congratulations! Making your parents a proud parent. My daughter got same SAT score as you. I wish we had a nice chance as Americans. Just to attend summer camp or event abroad parents have to spend big chunk of their savings, for some not even possible. English is our second language. I'm from Mongolia. My daughter got full tuition scholarship from Yonsei. My hope and my dream is my next daughter will get scholarship from America. I teach her English at home. All the best to you, girl! You made a good choice! USC (ranked # 17 in the nation) would be the school I would have chosen also. My 2nd choice would be UCLA (ranked # 8 in the nation). My 3rd choice would be UC Berkeley (ranked # 1 in the nation). The college ranking system I used was the Forbes' College Ranking of 2021. USC is just on the Southern edge of downtown Los Angeles. To the South of USC is South Central (now called South LA, they changed its name because of the bad reputation the name South Central had), traditionally or originally known as a black neighborhood, but now a Mexican/black neighborhood, with a high crime rate. To the North is the "dead" downtown Los Angeles that has become trashy and rundown with empty skyscraper buildings. USC is a Hidden Ivie Dream College. It has 48,000 students. It's Student:Faculty ratio is 9:1. It's not a racists or discriminatory school (as BYU is). It has a wonderful mixture of minority students with a racial-ethnic diversity of 48%. 25% are international students (mostly Indians and Chinese), 29% white, 15% Hispanic, 6% black, 21% Asian, 0% Native Americans, with a graduation rate of 96%. About 90% of the financial needs of the students are met. It's ranked # 17 in the nation by Forbes' college ranking of 2021. It's the # 53rd Best College in the World. USC is ranked # 20 in Best Professors, # 1 in Student Life, # 1 in Film & Cinema (just in front of UCLA which is # 2 in Film & Cinema), # 8 in Architecture, # 14 in Computer Science, # 17 in Biology, # 20 in Engineering, # 33 in Mathematics, # 51 in Chemistry, and # 56 in Physics. USC is a Need-Blind school. About 90% of a student's financial needs are paid for. A student pays no tuition if their parents make less than $80,000 annually. If a student attended a LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) school from kindergarten to the 12th grade, and had never missed a day of school (0 absences), that student receives a full scholarship (4 to 5 years) to attend USC regardless of his/her gpa (less than 10 senior high school students from the LAUSD educational system receive that scholarship annually). On Fridays and Saturdays, at 5 pm, there is a school bus that takes USC students to Universal Walk (at Universal Studios) in Universal City. It's like a clean, modern city sidewalk street (like downtown LA use to be) to walk around to shop, eat, go to the movies, or pay to go into Universal Studios. At about 10 pm, the bus will take students back to USC. The reason is because downtown Los Angeles, just about a 20 minute walk North of USC, has become dead (from the 1920s to the 1960s, all of Southern California use to shop there, but it's now dead) and is a dangerous place to shop and walk around. It is mostly dead there. The old traditional movie theaters there are also closed. There is a new movie theater there (about a 25 minute walk from USC) at the corner of Figueroa and Olympic, but it cost like $25 dollars for a ticket, and the parking across the street is also like $25 to park your car there (expensive). That movie theater is safe to go to (especially because of the high price). To go to that movie theater, you would have to walk through the Pico/Union District, a Hispanic (mostly Mexican) neighborhood. At one time, that neighborhood use to be deadlier than South Central with 11 murders per week. Be careful walking through there. You're a beautiful black girl, who will be touched, if you walk through there alone. It's not safe for a black, Asian, or white woman to walk through that neighborhood at any time. NOTE: I just notice this video was made in April 2021. It's now January 2022, so you just finished your 1st semester at USC, and will start your 2nd semester about now (today is Thursday, January 6th 2022). I hope you did well ! God bless you! Do well there! You will get a lot of dates because of your beautiful face. Be careful. Make friends and concentrate on your studies first. Have fun when you have finished your studies and finished your homework. On campus, it is beautiful, but just outside of USC, it's not (but it's safe on USC's Sorority/Fraternity Row and the USC student's bicycle/walking sidewalk/street that connects it to USC, because the USC security police protects that area, day and night). Don't get depress there. Don't let the city life of Los Angeles (Hollywood, the Pacific Ocean, the Beach, the film industry) ruin your academic life at USC. There is a lot going on in Los Angeles that will draw you to the dark side which could ruin your life. The Los Angeles film industry is not all that you think it is. It has a dark side also. Some to many in the film industry are exploiters who will use you just for your pretty face, especially sexually. That's what they are known for. That's how some actresses got their jobs in the film industry (by being used sexually). Truth! So be careful. THINK. I wish you the best!

haha harvard is an amazing institution and i was super grateful to get in! usc has a better film program, gave me way more financial aid, and has direct industry connections in LA. ivies are great but make sure you choose the school that makes the most sense for YOU specifically!!

Hi Jordan if someone is an athlete maybe even recruited athlete does that cover one of the two extracurriculars you are referring to or is athletics a separate category from other extracurriculars?

I am honestly unsure! I actually got recruited for college level debate and it definitely helped my admission chances. The amount your athleticism will help will most likely depend on the level of skill/achievements you have. I'd recommend building a connection with the schools you hope to get recruited by and adding some community service. See if you can give back to your community - whether that be through coaching, refereeing, etc.

A 4.0 GPA (American rated GPA, not your country's GPA, because your country's GPA might be different) and a good TOEFL score will most likely qualify you for acceptance to any American college or university. Just increase that chance of acceptance by doing well on your SAT or ACT, or what ever exam you are required to take in your nation that is similar or equivalent to the SAT or ACT. In reality, it doesn't matter which college or university you are accepted to in America, just that you are accepted. Get that degree that you want. A degree from a low ranking school is just the same as a degree at a high ranking school, because they teach the same thing for that degree. The only difference will be in the starting pay you get, because at a higher ranking school, you will get a higher starting salary. But that's okay, just give your best, and you will achieve what you want out of life.

USC is wonderful and beautiful, but downtown Los Angeles is not! Los Angeles is actually too dense, too crowded, too much traffic, dirty air. South LA (Watts) and the surrounding neighborhoods around USC and downtown Los Angeles are dangerous to walk around in at night. But a person gets use to it after about 2 weeks of living there, and then it just becomes a normal part of life. The neighborhood around USC is not safe for her. She can't be alone when walking around at night.
