Gotta freshen this one up for the algorithm. :) Hardest part of starting your own shop is the fear of it not working out. Have to have a business mind set as well as being mechanically inclined to succeed.

Good point. Most businesses fail in the first 2-3 years. I would ad to "having a business mind set" to be OBSESSED with your business. It takes more than most realize.

The hardest part about opening an auto shop is getting all of the tools. That being said, you can still get started without everything.

Yes, you can slowly build a collection of tools and equipment.

Yeah I mean if you can find clients you can do it mobile with not many tools and dont even need a shop you'll make good profits too with almost no overhead. Especially if youre just starting out on the side and having people pay cash you can build up money to eventually become more legit. Only issues is liability is high you really need to be careful what jobs you accept in the beginning.

Great video! I’m going to recommend some family and friends in that area to that shop. I myself have been considering opening a mechanic shop with a friend and hire mechanics just second guessing with today’s market & cars requiring expensive softwares to diagnose/ADAS/Etc.. and with the way the car market is going.

How does he still find the best price on the part while also making on the part? Those are conflicting interests
@SweatVenture
@SweatVenture 3 ай бұрын
He likely uses a mix of strong supplier relationships and bulk purchasing to get parts at a good price while still leaving room for a fair markup. It's all about finding that balance between offering value to the customer and maintaining a profitable business.

Where can I see all requirements to open a shop? What must I obtain to get my shop going? Thank you
@SweatVenture
@SweatVenture 15 күн бұрын
Starting an auto repair shop requires essential equipment such as a vehicle lift, diagnostic tools, air compressors, and a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, jacks, and impact drivers). You'll also need a secure, well-ventilated workspace with ample room for vehicles, a reception area for customers, and storage for tools and parts. Securing necessary licenses, insurance, and compliance with local safety and environmental regulations is crucial. Of course, this is just a quick crash-course.
