The fact that they asked if Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are a "one hit wonder" hurt me to my core. I really wish there there was more representation of Latin music. Daddy Yankee has been around as long as Eminem and Luis Fonsi for at least a decade. Despacito just happened to be to random song that got played on English stations. As a Dominican there is a lot of music that I listen to, especially in the summer, that most people English speakers don't even know exists. For example Reggaetón and Dembo have revolutionized Latin music in the last 15-20 years.

It's harder to remember Summer hits when you're not in school anymore and I graduated college in 2012 so that was the only one I knew for sure. Plus it helped that the USA Swimming Team made that HUGE lip sync video for the London Olympics lol. It went viral. Everytime I hear Despacito now, I think of that silly parody version by famous VA Christina Vee, who voices Sprigatito, and uses this song for the Parody version, just saying the Pokemon's name. She tweeted about it lol. Gets me in stitches every time lol.
